** Season Review 2025/26 **
Watton Junior FC entered the 2025/26 season with a team in every age group from Under 7s right through to Under 18s, all proudly competing in the NCYFL, alongside our Under 11 Vipers who competed in the NWGFL. With 14 teams representing the club each week, it has once again been a fantastic season across all age groups β and we must not forget the clubβs future stars training every Sunday morning with our Little Hares sessions.
The club also continued to strengthen its relationship with Watton United, creating an exciting pathway into open-age football and opportunities for players across both clubs moving forward.
As the season progressed, there were plenty of memorable moments and achievements across the club.
Our Under 7s enjoyed a brilliant first season together, reaching the semi-finals of their respective competition and showing fantastic development throughout the year.
The Under 8s also reached the semi-finals, only falling to strong opposition after an excellent campaign.
Our Under 8 Gunners had a difficult set of fixtures to navigate throughout the season, but they finished strongly and deserve huge credit for the perseverance, determination, and development they showed week after week.
Our Under 9s battled their way to a cup final and represented both themselves and the club superbly throughout the competition.
The Under 10s had a strong season and now look ahead to the 2026/27 campaign as they transition under new coaching leadership.
The Under 11 Vipers enjoyed a fantastic season, finishing top of their group-stage league and progressing to the semi-finals.
The Under 11s had a competitive year as they prepared for the step up to 9v9 football, and we look forward to seeing them continue their development in the league next season.
Our Under 12s, competing in League 2, had a solid season in a competitive division and secured a respectable mid-table finish. With new players joining the squad, they will be looking to push on again next year.
The Under 13s secured back-to-back league titles in another outstanding season. The question now is β can they complete a hat-trick of promotions? We cannot wait to see what next season brings for this talented group.
Our Under 14s enjoyed another excellent campaign in the Championship division, taking the title race right to the final game of the season. After a series of strong performances throughout the year, they finished runners-up in the league and now look forward to competing as a Premiership side in the 2026/27 season.
The Under 15s fought hard throughout their final season together as a squad. Following a difficult campaign and ongoing player availability challenges, the team and coaches have decided to step down. We would like to thank all players and coaches for their commitment and wish them every success in their next steps within grassroots football.
Our Under 16s also had a strong season, reaching the semi-finals of their cup competition and taking the league challenge deep into the final weeks of the campaign before finishing in a very respectable third place.
Lastly, our Under 18s, after a turbulent season, managed to complete all fixtures and enjoyed some excellent results throughout the year.
As a club, we are also incredibly proud of the achievements of our players away from weekly league football. We have had players gain places in both Norwich and Ipswich development centres, players representing Norfolk FA in European competition, and one of our Under 18 players earning an exciting opportunity to continue his football journey in America.
This season has also highlighted the excellent progression pathway from junior football into senior football, with around 12 players being introduced into open-age football during the campaign.
As a club, Watton Junior FC continues to grow both on and off the pitch. With committed volunteers, coaches, parents, and players throughout every age group, the future remains incredibly positive for football in Watton.
