And there it is… Another brilliant open week at Portsmouth Golf Club last week… The weather has been unbelievable, the course was so hard to play but still great… It can rain now thou☔️☔️
So many thank you’s to be said… We really couldn’t do it without some great peoples help… Huge thank you and an even bigger one to those who took part…
“To all the members and guests who took part in our Portsmouth Golf Club Open, I would like to say a huge thank you for your amazing support.
It has been a long week for me, and a tremendous amount of hard work has gone into making the event the success it has been. I can honestly say it has been a truly successful and enjoyable week of golf for everyone involved.
Receiving all the positive feedback has made every bit of the hard work worthwhile. I have been overwhelmed by the lovely emails and messages from members and visitors, all saying what a fantastic time they had. That really does mean a lot.
Of course, none of this could happen without the amazing team behind the scenes. A very special thank you to Hazel, Mark, Gary and Keith, who volunteered so many hours of their time to help make the week run so smoothly. Along with all of the other volunteers, Your support has been invaluable and very much appreciated.
Congratulations to all our winners, who played some fantastic golf in what has been the toughest summer conditions I can ever remember.
And finally, thank you to everyone who took part, supported the event and helped make it such a memorable week.

“A great start to the open with the veterans starting this festival of golf playing for the Dick Jones memorial trophy. A great day was had by all in testing conditions with some impressive scoring. The course played tough with the eventual winner Pete Lang scoring an impressive 38 points. Congratulations and well played. Well done to everyone who participated”
“Day 2 saw the Ladies
Ladies Bowmaker and the Junior s open event. The ladies turned up in numbers travelling from as far as Bromley, Worthing and Bognor. Hayling Island, Rowlands Castle and Waterlooville were also well represented. The course played tough but the ladies scored well. The eventual winners were Heather, Alison and Marlise from Bromley GC scoring an impressive 84 points. Congratulations to you. Well done to all the ladies that played and we look forward to seeing you all next year. The Juniors open was also played. They played well and the eventual winner was Rocco Tindall with a great score of 38 points. Well done to all who took part”
Day 3 saw the men playing for the Sir John Rowland trophy in the morning and the Sir William Dupree cup in the afternoon. The sun was relentless and made the playing conditions tough for all competitors. The morning winner was Darren Atkins and the afternoon winner was Michael Wiggins who also took the overall aggregate Cup. Jamie Wiggins also had a great day scooping up a nearest the pin prize and coming 3rd in the afternoon competition. Well done to all who played in the searing heat”
“Day 4 was the men’s 4bbb. Once again the hot conditions made for a tough days golf. There was some impressive golf with Craig McPhee and Leroy Langley winning with a very impressive 44 points. Congratulations to you both and well done to everyone once else who braved the heat”
Day 5 of the Portsmouth Open was another outstanding day of golf. The conditions were slightly cooler and there was some great scoring. The winning team with a score of 95 was our vice captain Gary Lines along with Darren Skyme, , Keith Milligan and Gavin Wilkinson. Congratulations to you all”
