With this being our final game as a club, we decided to end things on a fun note by drawing positions out of a hat. It led to some brilliant moments, with our goalkeeper playing CAM, our CM going in goal, our centre half out on the right wing and plenty more role swaps in the match.

Birtley Town were great sports and even gave away a penalty so manager John could hopefully sign off his managerial spell in style. Unfortunately John’s first attempt flew over the bar, but after Birtley’s keeper pointed out he was off his line, the penalty was retaken. Second time around, John made no mistake and found the back of the net to round off the game perfectly.

That brings our two years in the Sunderland Sunday League to a close with players moving on to different clubs next season.

Next up is our presentation evening on 6th June at Teal Farm Pub, where we’d like to invite all current and former players, aswell as sponsors. We hope to see you there!

A damp Sunday morning got off to a great start when Jewie fired in a brilliant goal in the first half, giving us a well earned lead at the break.

The second half was more evenly contested and The Fountain equalised with a questionable offside decision.

We then made things difficult for ourselves, conceding two penalties, one of them pretty soft. The Fountain sealed it late on with a simple tap in.

A classic game of two halves. The Fountain did what they needed to and came away with the win.
