Resilience.
It's a word we hear a lot, but what does it actually mean?
Many people think resilience means pushing through no matter what. We see it a little differently.
Resilience is the ability to adapt positively to challenges, setbacks or changing circumstances while continuing to move towards your goal.
The recent hot weather is a great example.
We could pretend nothing has changed, or we could cancel everything altogether. Instead, we're adapting our sessions so our students can continue to learn, improve and enjoy their training safely.
This week we've introduced:
๐ง Extra water breaks โ Please remember to bring a drink. If you forget, let a coach know straight away.
๐ Cooler clothing options โ Uniforms are not compulsory this week. Unless you have a lightweight kumite gi, feel free to wear shorts and a T-shirt instead.
๐ฅ Smarter lesson plans โ We'll reduce the intensity and place a greater focus on technical development, with some extra flexibility work while making the most of the conditions.
Life doesn't stop because conditions aren't perfect.
Sometimes we simply need to adjust our approach, keep moving forwards and make the best of the situation in front of us.
That's resilience... and it's a lesson that reaches far beyond the dojo.
