Unfortunately our slump continues. Bare numbers again and a few no shows, we changed our system in an attempt to stop the rot.
The lads who showed up can't be faulted and to a man put a shift in.
That's all we can ask

The lads were back in action after last week's debacle, much improved and with options on the bench we looked to get stuck.
Ultimately the effort and endeavour was there but we didn't threaten much against a team expecting to be up there challenging for the league.
Lads never gave up, which is all we could ask.
We go again next week

Match Result

The Wheelhouse : 8
Sunderland City : 2

The lads first home game of the season on a day when it all clicked.
Despite having a few missing and our own Brett Spencelayh recovering in hospital..
However the lads who were there showed up and put a shift in. Some great football played as well raced to a 4 nil lead after 14 mins.
We could have scored much more in truth but we have our season up and running.. finally.
This was a game where the lads showed up.
Can't ask for more than that
Luis Rackstraw bags and hat trick and Baz gets 2 goals and and hatful of assists.
We move onto next week with confidence, some of the squad showing what they can do given a chance.

Plains Farm FC :3
The Wheelhouse:0

The lads slipped to a defeat away at silks worth ski slope, against a plains farm team many are tipping to challenging for the league title.
We lined up in our usual 4-3-3 system and handed a debut to New Jack..
Plains farm kept the ball well but without really testing Brad.
However as the half wore on they did find the breakthrough, and went in half time 2-0 and comfortable.
We came out second half trying to keep the ball more and we had a good 10 min spell of pressure where Brett Spencelayh hit the post from a cross, which ended up on Andrew Trotter head and it looked like a certain goal, looked like it hit the plains farm defenders hand on the goal line.
However the red didn't see it
Andrew Trotter then went thru and forced a good save which was then cleared off the line.
From here tho plains farm ran out comfortable winners and scored another.
Brad making some good saves to keep the score a bit respectable.
We knew this league was gunna be competitive and we have a few new faces in the door who need time to gel.
With another old face re joining us for the next game having a short spell away having missed the lads banter to much.. 😅
We move onto the next game

League Cup Result

The Wheelhouse : 3
Wear United : 3

( Wear United win 3-2 on pens )

Warm and sapping conditions this morning as the lads unfortunately went out of the league cup at the first hurdle.

Again stretched thru lack of subs, which meant an early system switch after Anthony Bonallie went off with a concussion injury.
We played well especially the first half hour where we had a good few chances to kill the tie.
Andrew Trotter did find the bottom corner with a good finish from outside the box.
However Wear United looked dangerous on the break and a thru ball saw a easy tap past brad in goal.
1-1 HT

We then found ourselves 2-1 down on the 50 min mark with some loose defending.
Again tho the lads didn't curl up and feel sorry for ourselves we hung in despite having no fresh legs to come on, a corner from Andrew Trotter saw the wear United keeper spill the ball for a tap in for James Barrett. Game on.
A run up Field from Brett Spencelayh pass it on to Andrew Trotter who had space to use, pushed forward and again out side curler into the far corner!
Scenes as we looked to hang on.
However Wear United pushed on and a soft free kick given away saw them equalise with mins left past a stand in keeper Gary Thomas Small.

Penalties then where it's just a lottery..
Brad saved wear Uniteds 3rd spot kick, at this point you think that's your chance but 2 great saves from the wear United keeper took it to the last kick.
Robbie had his penalty saved but there keeper was a good 3/4 yards off his line when he saved it!
We wanted a retake but the ref wasn't interested.
We crash out but the lads can take heart again for never given up in hot conditions
Everyone ran there socks off and you can't ask for more.

The Albion 5

Today was a very good competitive game off football and the lads grafted till the very end. Few players playing different positions but everyone done there part. First goal came from a nice through ball from Alex Walker which Andrew Trotter latched onto and tucked away with a nice tidy finish. The lads then went 2-1 down with two threw balls that spilt us. We then got one back with a nice through ball into Brett Spencelayh which he curled into the far bottom corner. They then grabbed one more before to make it 3-2. HT
Second half we conceded again to make it 4-2, but we got one straight back with James Barrett playing it to brett and brett and trotter playing one twos and trotter then went on and chipped the keeper. 4-3
Brett then chipped it over two off there centre half’s then on the half volley with his weeker foot tucked it away in the far corner to make it 4-4. Then a nice through ball from the albions midfielder played there striker through to make it 5-4 to Albion. The last kick of the game Bradley Anderson New lofted it in the box from a free kick at the half way like and it couldn’t have been no one else but baz he latched onto it and put it away to make it 5-5 with the last kick of the game.
Great game from both teams and looking forward to playing the reserve fixture.

Chester Le Street United : 4

Final game of pre season ended in defeat for the lads today, we went into the game a few key players missing but looking to give it a good go.
We played against a youthful, high energy Chester united team and for the first half it was a competitive game. We limited the opposition to a few shots from distance, with some good defending and hard work.
HT 0-0
Chester went ahead with a good shot from distance hitting the post and unfortunately landing Infront of there striker for a tap in.
The lads responded 5 mins later when a lovely thru ball from Luis Rackstraw saw Callum Crosby go thru and put it past the keeper.
From there Chester united took over and scored a quick second, had chances to score more. Before 2 rash free kicks on edge of the area which were well taken saw it go 4-1.
We had a few chances to make a game of it but in truth the big difference was squad depth, the lads ran there socks off but Chester united could make constant fresh subs and ultimately we couldn't match that.
We still look to build a squad and hopefully adding some more quality over the next few weeks,
