Round 7 at Whilton Mill this weekend for the WMKC, and it's a circuit I've raced plenty.

Short, busy and unforgiving of a lazy lap. Tight infield sections come one after another with barely a straight to catch your breath on, so it's consistency through the lap that counts here, not outright pace on any one section. Get the rhythm right early and the rest of the weekend tends to follow.

Two days of racing ahead, and I want to carry the pace I've built over the last few rounds into a result that matches it.

Whilton Mill is one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar, full of tight corners and very little run-off, so a clean qualifying lap really sets up the weekend. Every session counts from here. Racing starts Saturday. 🏁

Cooper heads into the The Kart Championship at Whilton Mill, and it's as unforgiving for the juniors as it is for anyone else on the entry list. The National circuit crams constant direction changes into under 1,200 metres with barely a straight to catch your breath, so consistency through the lap matters just as much as raw pace. It's the final round of the season, and Cooper's aiming to finish it strong.

Heat one I was fourth, 0.44 off the fastest lap. Heat three was tougher, eighth, but my pace was actually tighter, only 0.15 off.

Finished the final seventh and only 0.22 off the fastest lap in that race. My pace kept getting better through the day even where the results didn't always show it straight away.

Good points in the bag.

Off the back of a P1 at the last round, we're heading back to PFi Karting Karting for Round 5 of the Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) Championship this weekend.

Cooper's hoping to carry that momentum straight into a tough grid, and the team is putting the work in today to be ready for it.

The technical sections are tight and you need precision from lap one. Racecraft separates you from the field here and the margins are tiny.

Consistency wins races and you come sharp or you don't bother showing up.
