The North West road Relays incorporating the Cheshire Championships were held in Heaton Park Manchester on Saturday 12 September with Warrington Athletic Club being represented in 9 of the of the 10 races.

In the under 12 girls the A team of Sophie Hickey (9:29), Alice Astbury (8:46) and Saffron Llewellyn (9:17) for a total time of 27 minutes 34 seconds finished in an excellent 3rd place and took the Cheshire Gold Medals. The B team of Autumn Illingworth (10:22), Ffion Lawton (9:51) and Lisa Weir (9:42) finished 13th in a total time of 29 minutes 56 seconds to take the Silver Medals in the Cheshire. The C Team of Maya Li (10:09), Lily-Mae McMullen (10:37) and Summer Llewellyn (12:27) for a total time of 33 minutes 15 seconds to finish 31st unfortunately missing out on making it a clean sweep of the Cheshire Medals as the finished 4th.

In the under 12 boys the A team of Callum Meakin (8;00), Thomas Farrell (8;33) and Luis Davidson (8:00) for a total time of 24 minutes 33 seconds finished 6th and won the Cheshire Silver Medals. The B team of Ben Peers (9;01), Austin Horman (8:45) and Brandon Kippax (10;54) for a total time of 28 minutes 42 seconds finished 33rd and 4th in the Cheshire.

In the under 14 girls the A team of Ivy Davidson (12:57), Bella Parkinson (12:44) and India Seymour (14:11) finished in an excellent 2nd place and won the Cheshire Gold Medals with a total time of 39 minutes 53 seconds. The B team of Saffron Talbot-Barka (16:46) and Nolah Bothwell (16:23) was incomplete.

In the under 14 Boys the A team of Alex Farrell (11:55), Alfie Furnival (12:02) and Hugo Stanford (12:16) finished in an excellent 5th place with a total time of 36 minutes 15 seconds to win the Cheshire Gold Medals. The B team of Luke Horman (14:07), Sebastian Hughes (12:23) and Noah Culley (13:46) finished in 17th with a total time of 40 minutes 17 seconds to win the Cheshire Silver Medals.

In the under 16 girls the team of Grace Rashud (12:16), Grace Taylor (13:10) and Bethany Roberts (14:21) finished in 12th place with a total time of 39 minutes 48 seconds to win the Cheshire Bronze Medals.

In the under 16 boys the team of Ashton Illingworth (11:29), Ethan Barratt (12:06) and Eddie Walker (11:07) finished in 5th place with a total time of 34 minutes 44 seconds to win the Cheshire Gold Medals.

In the under 18 men the team of Euan Lawton (18:44) and Joseph Barratt (19:12) was incomplete.

In the Senior Women The A team of Lucie Davies (19:10), Alison Roberts (20:07) and Jess Connolly (19:56) finished in 9th place with a total time of 59 minutes 14 seconds to finish 4th in the Cheshire. The B team of Claire Andrew (21:12), Faye Lawton (23:38) and Sarah Wharton (28:36) finished in 43rd place with a total time of 1 hour 13 minutes 27 seconds placing the 10th in the Cheshire.

In the Senior Men the A team of Cameron Field (16:18), Dan Fox (16:13), Jack Wadsworth (17:03) and Jack Pilkington (16:49) finished in 9th place with a total time of 1 hour 06 minutes 24 seconds to take the Cheshire Silver Medals. The B team of Matthew Jenson (17:13), Paul Mainwaring (18:12), Dave Norman (21:45) and Alex MacDonald (16:59) with a total time of 1 hour 14 minutes 10 seconds finished in 41st place and 8th in the Cheshire.

With four Gold four Silver and one Bronze in the Cheshire and a second and third in the North West it turned out a good day for the club.

Cheshire Grand Prix

Nine Warrington Athletic Club young athletes took part in the final Cheshire Grand Prix on Sunday 13th September held at Ellesmere Port. In the under 10 boys Luis Davidson competed in three events winning all three. In the 75 metres he won with a time of 12.15 seconds, took the win in the Turbo Javelin with 16.55 metres, both personal bests, and the Long Jump with a jump of 3.15 metres.

In the under 12 age group Leonard Broadhurst also competed in three events winning the High Jump with a personal best jump of 1.25 metres, was 2nd in the 150 metres with a time of 22.17 metres and also 2nd in the 600 metres in 1 minute 54.93 seconds. In the girls Javelin Alice Kerr finished in 20th place in the large field with a throw of 6.07 metres. In the under 14 age group Clement Leung had a double victory in the Long Jump with 4.53 metres and the 200 metres with a personal best time of 27.87 seconds. Tristan Tickle also two events finishing 4th in the Long Jump with 3.75 metres and 3rd in his 200 metres race in 29.62 seconds. In the girls 200 metres Rosie Carters finished 4th in her race with a time of 30.59 seconds.

In the under 16 age group Rosie Bagnall finished 2nd in her 200 metres race with a time of 27.99 seconds while in her race Laila Betteley was 5th with a time of 30.94 seconds. In the Javelin Erin Kerr was 4th with a throw of 5.61 metres.

Newcastle 10K. Following her run at the British Police Championships Louise Blizzard ran in the Newcastle (Staffordshire) 10 kilometres road race on Sunday 13th September finishing 54th overall with a time of 43 minutes 04 seconds placing her 2nd woman and winning the women's over 50 age group.

In the British Masters Athletic Championships held at Moorways Stadium Derby from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th September three Warrington Athletic Club athletes collected six Bronze Medals sharing them two each.

In the Women's over 60 age group Julie Hicken took bronze Medals in the 100 and 200 metres with times of 14.55 seconds and 30.50 seconds respectively. In the over 55 age group Linda Bowden won bronze medals in the 3000 and 5000 metres with times of 13 minutes 22.92 seconds and 23 minutes 42.20 seconds respectively. For a bit of speedwork she also ran in the 800 metres finishing 7th with a time of 3 minutes 05.79 seconds.

In the men's over 70 age group Steve Bowden won Bronze Medals in the 3000 and 5000 metres with respective times of 13 minutes 40.92 seconds and 23 minutes 48.74 seconds.

British Police 10 Miles
Two Warrington Athletic Club athletes represented Cheshire Police on Wednesday 9th September in the British Police 10 miles road race Championships at Pleshey in Essex. In the men's race Jack Pilkington finished in an excellent 4th place with a time of 54 minutes 55 seconds. Unfortunately Cheshire were unable to field a complete team. In the overall event Louise Blizzard finished in 70th place with a time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 16 seconds to place 9th woman and 2nd over 50 woman. Along with Lindsay Dixon and Natalie Hewitt Louise won the overall women's team race on 21 points and with Lindsay and Lisa O'Shea she won the Masters team with 34 points.
