After years of dedication and valuable contributions, Alfie is about to embark on a new chapter this summer as he heads to Ibiza to start a new job. While we’re excited for him, we’ll certainly miss having him around.

Alfie has been with us since his early years, playing through every age group and consistently demonstrating his commitment to both the sport and the club. He’s not only been a great player, but also a fellow coach, stepping up to support his brother’s team and jumping in whenever needed. His passion for the game and loyalty to the club have always been clear.

Alfie’s willingness to give his time has made him an invaluable part of the club. I’ve been lucky to have him as a friend and a teammate; his contributions extend far beyond the court and will have a lasting effect for years to come.

We wish Alfie all the best as he moves on to this exciting new opportunity. He’ll be missed, but we’re sure he’s going to do great things.

Best of luck, Alfie - see you on court next time and always remember...

Best of luck to Padgate players taking part in the 2025 Home Nations basketball tournament. Current players Izzy and Seb Irvine are taking a break from their local league commitments to proudly represent Wales, showcasing their skills on the national stage.

We’re also delighted to see former Padgate player Darcie Abby in action for Ireland, continuing her basketball journey at a high level. Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of all three of you - we’ll be cheering you on from home and wishing you a successful and enjoyable tournament.

Seb and Izzy have been selected to represent Wales in the U14 boys and U14 girls teams at the Home Nations competition in Glasgow.

A great achievement for both players and the club. Let’s get behind them as they take the court.

A huge congratulations to Seb on his recent call-up to represent Wales in the Under 14 Boys squad. It’s a fantastic achievement and another proud moment for everyone involved with the club.

Seb featured in a tournament against the Central Aspire regional teams as well as stepping up again to compete against the Aspire Central Super Regional team, where he took to the court alongside players from the Wales Under 15 Boys as part of the warm up to the 4 nations selection with which we wish him well.

Away from the international stage, Seb continues to develop his game as part of our Year 9/10 Pacers team, playing every weekend alongside his twin sister in a squad that grows in confidence with each outing. His dedication to the sport extends well beyond playing - he’s a Level 1 referee and a Level 2 table official, always willing to support the game however he can. He recently brought his skills to our All Girls 3X3 tournament, stepping into a vital off-court role to ensure the fast-paced games were scored accurately and ran smoothly from start to finish.

Seb brings passion, drive and a brilliant sense of humour to everything he does. His development so far has been a joy to watch, and this is only the beginning.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Izzy has become the first Aces player to represent us on the international stage, having earned a place in the Wales squad.

Her selection has been a proud moment for her family and a hugely inspiring milestone for everyone connected to the club. In a short period of time, Izzy has now played 8 games for Wales, 3 at her own under 14 level and 5 playing up for the under 15s in tournaments against the Aspire Central regional and super regional teams in Nottingham. She travels to Essex to take on the South Super Regional team ahead of the 4 nations selection for the summer. We wish her luck with the selection to represent her country at the home nations tournament.

Izzy comes from a big basketball family and is part of a true triple threat sibling rivalry, with both her twin and older brother also heavily involved in the sport.

Her achievement is a reflection of her dedication, love for the game and willingness to take on new challenges. She continues to set the bar for what’s possible in girls basketball.

A founding member of our All Girls ACES Programme and a key part of our local league team, Izzy brings passion, energy and leadership to everything she does.

But her impact goes far beyond playing. She’s a Level 2 table official, a Level 1 referee, and has just completed her Level 1 coaching certification with Basketball England - showing her all-round commitment to the game and to giving back wherever she can.

Next season, Izzy will continue to represent the club both as a player and as a coach. It’s an exciting new chapter, and we know she’ll take it on with the same drive and positivity she brings to every session.

She’s fun, infectious and driven to keep growing. We couldn’t be prouder, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
