Why should Phoenix Fire ABC be saved?

His Response:
As both an official and a member who trains at the club, I have witnessed first-hand the dedication, hard work, and passion of the coaches and boxers. Although I have only been a member since February 2025, Phoenix Fire has quickly become a place I am proud to call home. From my very first day, I was made to feel welcome, and my skills, confidence, and personal development have grown significantly.

In my role as a judge and timekeeper, I have also seen the discipline, commitment, and determination that our boxers demonstrate every time they step into the ring. Phoenix Fire provides far more than boxing training—it offers a supportive environment, positive role models, and valuable opportunities for young people. It would be a great loss if the club were forced to close, as many children and young people would miss out on the opportunities, guidance, and sense of community that Phoenix Fire provides.

Why do u think clubs like phoenix fire are important for the community?

His response:
I believe clubs like PFABC are the backbone of local communities. They bring together people from all walks of life. No matter who you are, where you’ve come from, or what you do for a living, you are welcomed and treated with respect.

Clubs like these are incredibly important because they provide young people with positive opportunities, structure, and guidance. For those who may be at risk of falling in with the wrong crowd, they offer discipline, purpose, and a sense of belonging. They help build confidence, teach accountability, and show that success comes through hard work and commitment, regardless of a person’s background.

These gyms create a real sense of family. They provide a place to turn when life becomes difficult, where people can build lifelong friendships, find positive role models, and receive support from others who genuinely care. They teach respect, resilience, dedication, and self-discipline - qualities that benefit people far beyond the gym walls.

Without clubs like PFABC, many people would lose not only a place to train, but also a safe and positive environment that helps keep them focused, motivated, and connected to their community. For some, it can be the difference between feeling isolated and having a support network that believes in them. The impact these clubs have extends far beyond boxing; they help shape better individuals, stronger families, and healthier communities.

We asked Josh:
What achievement since joining Phoenix Fire ABC are you most proud of?

His Response:
I joined Phoenix Fire ABC when I was 13 years old. At the time, I weighed around 85kg and was just looking to improve myself and learn the sport. Over the years, the coaches have helped me develop not only as a boxer but also as a person.

Through their guidance, support and belief in me, I’ve transformed both physically and mentally. I’m now competing under 65kg, have won a Regional Development Championship, reached a Regional Open Final, and gained valuable experience through every fight and challenge along the way.

The gym has become like a second home to me. The coaches have always pushed me to be the best version of myself, helping me build confidence, discipline and resilience. Looking back, joining Phoenix Fire ABC was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I’m grateful for everything the club and coaches have done for me.

We asked James:
How has the club helped your confidence?

His Response:
When I first joined Phoenix Fire, it was just before Covid, and I really struggled with my confidence. After the lockdowns ended and the gym reopened, I started working more closely with some of the coaches, especially through one-to-one sessions with Gaz.

The support, guidance and belief they showed in me have had a huge impact on my life. My confidence has grown massively, and I’m a completely different person now. I’m much more confident in myself, both in and out of the gym, and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about the journey. I’m incredibly grateful for everything the coaches have done to help me become the person I am today.

We asked Leo: When did you first become involved with phoenix fire abc?

His Response: I first went phoenix at 8 years old after my 3 mates had been a session the week before. I was the only mate that stayed and I’m still here 9 years later many fights under my belt but more importantly the people I have met along the way and the community spirit of our gym will stay with me forever.
