A hidden gem: Stockton Heath Tennis Club offers tennis for all ages and ability level all year round

The Club now occupies an area of some 2-3 acres with extensive woodland around the courts and Clubhouse. The two shale courts are available for play typically from April to October while the five artificial grass courts are in use throughout the year. The Mini Tennis Courts are used by the younger children and help them to learn the basic skills of tennis. There is also the use of six floodlit courts, three surfaced with artificial grass and three with porous macadam at Bridgewater High school, for which SHLTC share the use and management of these courts with the school.

🏓 104 members and counting!

Pickleball is going from strength to strength at SHLTC, and it’s been brilliant to see so many people getting involved.

Our social sessions are always well attended, with plenty of opportunities for players of all abilities to enjoy a game. Whether you’ve never picked up a paddle before or already love playing, you’ll receive a warm welcome.

With taster sessions, friendly inductions and coaching tailored to different abilities, it’s easy to get started and quickly see why pickleball has become so popular.

The final match of our Club Championships took place last night, and what a brilliant match it was! 🎾

Congratulations to Petro Yanytskyi and Ian Tennant, who won the Men’s Doubles after a very close contest and some excellent tennis from everyone on court.

A huge well done also to our runners-up, Joe Cooper and Joe Lavender, who played their part in a fantastic final.

A great way to bring this year’s Club Championships to a close!

Tonight marks the first night of our Monday Night Winter League!

This brilliant club tradition is now in its 26th year, bringing members together for plenty of competitive tennis, friendly rivalry and enjoyable evenings on court throughout the winter months.

Good luck to everyone taking part this year. Wrap up warm and enjoy the first matches!

We're delighted to share that Club member Ian represented the transplant community at the Transplant Active - Home of the British Transplant Games in Sheffield, winning:

🥈 Silver in the Men’s 50–59 Tennis
🥇 Gold in the Men’s 50–59 Squash

Ian received a life-changing kidney transplant from his son, Dan, in June 2017 after his kidney function fell below 10% due to hereditary Polycystic Kidney Disease. Before the transplant, even walking up a flight of stairs was difficult because of his extremely low energy levels.

The British Transplant Games bring together teams from hospitals across the UK to celebrate the gift of life, demonstrate the benefits of transplantation and raise awareness of organ donation. This year’s Games were the largest in the event’s 48-year history, with 2,857 registered attendees taking part across 26 sports.

A truly inspiring story and a remarkable sporting achievement. Congratulations, Ian, from everyone at SHLTC!

☀️ What a summer we’ve had at SHLTC!

From great tennis and pickleball to tournaments, social events and plenty of time spent together on court, it’s been fantastic to see the Club so busy and full of life.

Even this weekend’s downpours couldn’t dampen our spirits! ☔🎾

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual John Clark Memorial Trophy event in aid of St. Rocco's Hospice.

It was a fantastic day filled with great tennis, a brilliant pickleball social session and a superb afternoon tea. Congratulations to our tournament winners, Millie Morrison and Will Clark, who were presented with their prizes by Rose Clark.🏆

It was also lovely to welcome Marc and Catherine Vannerem. Catherine is the Finance Director of St Rocco’s.

Thank you to everyone who played, attended, donated, provided refreshments or helped behind the scenes. Your support made the day such an enjoyable success and emphasised what a wonderful community we have at the club.

A little throwback to our Wimbledon Whites Social back in July! 🎾🍓

It was a fantastic afternoon filled with social tennis, sunshine, plenty of smiles and, of course, strawberries and cream afterwards.

We hold lots of friendly social events throughout the year, giving members plenty of opportunities to play, meet new people and enjoy being part of the club.
