🌿 BOWLS FOR EVERY GENERATION 🌿

What a brilliant way to finish our FREE Summer Taster Sessions at Padgate Bowling Club! 🥰

Over the last few months we’ve welcomed complete beginners, families, children and adults onto the green — and tonight really summed up what bowls should be all about.

Different generations, one green, one game and lots of smiles. 💚

It’s been wonderful seeing our experienced bowlers passing on their knowledge and encouraging some of our youngest visitors to pick up a bowl and have a go. Who knows… we may even have spotted a few future champions! 👀🏆

Our free taster sessions have been a fantastic success and we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has come along, supported them, helped with coaching and made our visitors feel so welcome.

Sadly, this was our final taster session of the year — but definitely not the end! We’ve loved seeing so many new faces at the club and hope we’ll see plenty of you back on the green again. 💚

Bowls really is a sport for all ages — and these photographs say it better than we ever could. 🥰

Last night under dark skies and floodlights, Padgate A faced Monks B in a closely contested Challenge Cup Final at Croft Bowling Club. Monks B, last year’s winners, were determined to retain the trophy, but Padgate A had other ideas.
Both teams produced some excellent bowling throughout the evening. Despite the pressure of a cup final, the standard remained high, with neither side willing to give an inch.
In the end, Padgate A held their nerve to secure a deserved 172–159 victory, ending Monks B’s reign as holders.
A fantastic final played in great spirit, and a memorable night of bowls. Many thanks to Croft for their hospitality.

It’s fantastic to see our volunteers getting stuck in and helping to lay flags around the bowling green. Their hard work is making a real difference, reducing the workload and helping to keep the area looking great.
A huge thank you to everyone who has given their time and energy — your support and team spirit are very much appreciated!

Padgate A vs Woolston A – Match Report
Padgate A rounded off the season with a victory over Woolston A, winning 194–121 on a very warm evening.
The heat certainly made its presence felt, with the green running exceptionally quickly and plenty of jacks making a bid for freedom as they went sailing off the green! It made for an entertaining evening and kept everyone on their toes.
Despite the tricky conditions, Padgate settled into their game well and produced a strong performance across the evening, eventually running out winners by 73 shots.
As it was the final game of the season, Woolston A very kindly provided a buffet, which was greatly appreciated by everyone and provided a chance for both teams to relax and enjoy some well-earned refreshments.
There was also a special mention for Margaret, who celebrated her birthday by playing on—even when it got dark! Now that’s commitment to the cause.
A great way to finish the season: good bowling, good company, a generous buffet and plenty of laughs. Well played, Padgate A, and thanks to Woolston A for their hospitality.

🌿 KEEPING PADGATE BOWLING CLUB GOING – IT’S ALL DONE BY VOLUNTEERS! 💙

We wanted to share a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes at Padgate Bowling Club.

Something that people may not realise is that our club is run entirely by volunteers. We don’t have a team of paid groundspeople or maintenance staff — the mowing, strimming, weeding, cutting back, painting, cleaning and general upkeep is carried out by club members who generously give up their own time.

And as you can see from these photos… there’s quite a lot of ground to look after! 😅🌱

The old tennis court area alone is a huge space, and keeping on top of it alongside maintaining our bowling green and the rest of the club grounds is an ongoing job.

We’re incredibly grateful to every single person who rolls up their sleeves and gets stuck in. Whether someone gives us an hour with a strimmer, pulls a few weeds, cuts something back or helps with one of the bigger jobs — it all makes a difference. 💙

We want Padgate Bowling Club to continue being a welcoming, cared-for facility for our members and our wider community, but we can only achieve that with people willing to lend a hand.

So, if you’re local and ever fancy volunteering a couple of hours — you don’t have to be a member and you certainly don’t need to be an expert gardener! 😂🌿

Many hands really do make light work.
