We had the absolute privilege of being the team to bring Slammin Sam back into action! Sam is fighting leukaemia (ALL), winning and is now building his life back up.

The Balmforth clan joined our family this year and while we haven’t been part of the journey they have had to endure, we are honoured to be part of the comeback. We are so proud of them all and so pleased they have come to us and have fitted in with us perfectly!

Last week, we were tasked with the honour of bringing Sam back onto the playing field for his return, and we want to also say a huge thank you to Pilkington Recs, who joined us as we gave Sam a guard and honour to welcome him.

The game was brilliant too, not only did Sam get back into the thick of it, he managed to score a double! It was also special for the Balmforth’s as Sam was joined on the field by his brother who is part of the team!

It’s onwards and upwards now, welcome back to the pitch Sam!!

Well done to the travelling team today to Accrington, I can’t confidently put a score in because that was just mental wasn’t it 😅😅

As I said in the pub, the attack today was excellent, so much unselfishness and really good to see the ball moved about well! We must have left 40 points on the pitch.

Top Trainer - Frankie! His performance today was really good and it’s coming on now because he’s turning up week in week out with the right attitude!

Moment - Will, how good was that tackle! To see the confidence in this young man now makes me so proud of him! He was amazing today, never thought I’d see him smash a big prop 1 on 1 though, outstanding!

Tackler - Abel, again another player who has the right attitude and efforts and it’s starting to come through really well! His efforts in defence today were great and his line speed was very good too!

Supporter - Sammy! How amazing is this young man too! He’s overcome so much and the lads love having him about, he got involved today in the warm up and was a constant positive energy for us! Great to see him training with us and building himself back up.

Opposition - Charlie C, Cookie was unreal today! Best performance in a Giants shirt! Some amazing runs, big tackles and just always positive. Great to see the confidence that is coming along with him.

Parents Player - Harrison, unanimously picking up all the votes and let’s just say he deserved them all, twice over! A phenomenal bruise, nose bleed, hattrick and a barrel of tackles as well as some amazing runs. He absolutely smashed it today!

Player of the Match - Jack, I gave him a job today and he nailed it. Played his socks off, some great hits, nice passing and his kicking was on point! Even scoring a cheeky chip and chase! Great to see Jack working hard as ever and the passion is on fire!

Great efforts today Latchford, enjoyed that one!

Fantastic game this morning for the home side winning 36-12 against Ashton! With LG scoring 8 of those 12 points 😁

Moment - Will - a fantastic show of where we make a mistake, to keep our heads up and apply ourselves. After dropping a ball early on, he dusted down and took the next pass nicely to score and then a second try with a lovely take on the fly! Great attitude!

Trainer - Riley - has been superb in training recently, always bring the right energy, effort and attitude! 2 great performances with the team now too! Class today!

Tackler - Oliver - was outstanding today, when he got hold of anyone they weren’t let go! He made a number of really important tackles, great 1 on 1 and also made impacts in gang tackling. Great job!!

Supporter - @⁨~Dan⁩ what a performance, too draw spectating and the boys said you more than deserved the award! Hard work is paying off! 😅

Opposition - Issac W - some excellent running today, good defence and loads of energy! A big tackle on their man, which the coach said they don’t see happen 1 on 1 got the award nod! A great all round performance and a lovely try!

Parents - George G - was outstanding today, for us and against us! 2 tries against us, just tore us apart! For us, big tackles, great running and a superb assist! Well done mate!!

Player of the match - Fergus, took a new role on today and did really well, he’s probs fed up of hearing my voice 😅 but he nailed it today! Took control of the team and really owned it. Created loads and some excellent tackling today!!

A fantastic end to the game to get the win too!!

PoM: Jacob, fantastic play around the ruck, got involved in the defensive work & guided us around the park well!

Parents: Charlie E, did well and set up a couple of tries!

Tackler: Abel, some great tackling today, confidence is on the up and was brilliant today!

Moment: Ben, could have been a number today but Ben had a catalogue of class moments including a brilliant try.

Opposition: Riley, what a debut!! Stood out massively and put some great shots on, good work rate and a quality try!
