Following recent government guidance on the further lifting of the lockdown, both courts are now available for play.
Membership is open for renewal and for new members wishing to join the club. Please see the club website for details. clubspark.lta.org.uk/bbhtc
Courts must be booked online. When booking it is now essential that all participants, whether members or guests, are listed by name in the data field provided. This enables us to trace players under the virus test and trace protocol if we are contacted by the NHS.
We ask that:
Players leave the courts promptly at the end of their session and that those arriving to play wait outside the courts, away from the gate until players have left.
All players should observe best practice in terms of hand sanitizing, use of own equipment and respect for other players in and around the courts and that members do not congregate or break social distancing protocols.

As far as membership fees for the 2020/21 season are concerned and as previously stated, the committee has decided to defer collection until after 30th June. Prorated fees will be displayed on the website once the club can give full access to 2 courts and at this point new membership applications will also be considered together public court hire.

¹ To preserve social distancing given the location of the entrance to both courts being immediately adjacent to court 1 and to avoid having to introduce a buffer period between bookings and staggering court start times. Subject to review when further easing of restrictions allow.

Work started at the beginning of this week to create a path from the lay by in Byfleets Lane to the courts. Today a group of 16 volunteers met with shovels, rakes and barrows and began the task of spreading bark chip. Further working parties will be needed when we get more chippings as we aim to get a good layer complete before the weather deteriorates. Huge thanks go to everyone involved with this project, it’s really transformed the edge of the cricket field and will be a wonderful addition for everyone wanting access to the courts.

A huge thank you to all members and their friends who attended our quiz night last Saturday. Also, a big thank you to all those who couldn't be there on the night but who supported us with raffle prizes and donations. It was a great evening and we raised £630 pounds which will go towards making a path beside the cricket field to the courts.
Annabel and Mark McCord once again came up with a great selection of questions and their hard work was very much appreciated. Congratulations to Rosie Browning's team who were the winners.

Our next event will be the Wimbledon Draw in May, details to be announced shortly. In the meantime please don't forget to join British Tennis if you are not yet a member and opt into the Wimbledon Ballot on the LTA website. It makes a huge difference to the club if you do this even if you decide you don't want to apply for tickets in our ballot in May.

BBHTC held its First Ladies Tennis Day yesterday. Despite the weather we had a fantastic turnout with 15 ladies managing to play a round robin competition during the morning, only occasionally resorting to the shelter of several golfing umbrellas! Once the rain settled in at lunchtime, we retreated to the Cricket Pavilion for lunch and prize giving. It was a very sociable day with some great tennis and it was lovely to be able to welcome some visitors to the club. We do hope they will join us again at what we hope will become an annual event.
