Another fun interval session on Thursday 6.30 at Stanlake, I am torn between a lovely pyramid set or 1k effort 200 mtr recovery repeats.

The latter will work well around the cricket boundary as it’s 2.5 laps for 1k (10k pace) and the .5 walking or jogging back to the start, then you go again. Set is 35 mins

Preferences folks??

Who’s coming along?

Who would have thought that running around in a circle could be the most fun anyone could have on a lovely Thursday evening. Great effort by all and great to see a few new faces.

All feedback on the set is welcomed as always

Hopefully the weather tomorrow evening will be okay for the Stanlake session. At 6.30pm as normal

I was thinking 400mtr (ish) relays (around the cricket boundary is about 400 mtrs)

Pick a partner and just run a lap then your partner runs a lap then it’s your turn again.

Ideally 6/10 or 7/10 depends how your feeling.

Aim is to run your own laps consistently at a good pace.

35 minute set. Who coming along?

Fun in the sun (hopefully) tomorrow at Stanlake at 6.30 who wants to come along?

2 mins chatty pace 3/10 effort
2mins one word answer 6/10 effort
2 mins threshold 9/10 effort

Repeat 5 times so 30 min set

Helps your body adjust and know your relative effort and engages the mind with the changes as you move between them

Well done to the Fab Four fox and hounds this evening, consistent efforts by all well done.

There were even some smiles after… well smiles after a little recovery and plotting my demise for leading them thru set 😂

What's your favourite race of the year?
That is a tough one, a few of the cross country spring to mind, notably Bracknell or Tadley but I have to say the Wargrave 10k is also a favourite of mine with the banter and seeing some familiar faces as you run around (and water fights with the scouts who resource the water stations)

What's your favourite race distance?
5km

How many miles on average do you run per week?
25-30 currently

Favourite shoe brand?
Saucony

What sports watch do you wear?
Polar (Vantage)

Why did you start running?
I started running again about 10 years ago after probably a 15 year absence. During the absence, I was more interested in playing football but when my legs and body stopped being able to respond to the shorter sharper movements, I decided I needed another target. I knew of Wargrave Runners from when I was younger and a quick internet search showed me that there was a regular 5km summer league which seemed the ideal route back into running.

What do you love most about running?
There are a number of things I enjoy about running but Inthink if Inhad to choose one, it is the time of reflection I get when I am out for a run on my own (or with one or both of the dogs). Don't get me wrong, I do love to run with friends but I always run without music which means when running solo I have some time for some self-reflection, both from a professional and personal perspective.

Do you have any pre-race rituals?
Not really, for a morning or lunchtime race, I will probably eat porridge for breakfast but for evening races i'm probably just rushing to get there from work 😄.
