Little vid for fun, however the goal this year is to run our own EHRR CSR competition for those that love a gentleman’s calibre .303 Don’t worry, this also includes your NATO rounds as well.
Running the same category’s as Bisley, we aim to run at least one competition in this discipline this year. We are also putting together a .22 PRS style with stages. Lastly but not least we have a Sniper comp which is in two phases. Phase 1 will be run on the ground with concealment being the goal. Phase 2 will be target identification and shot placement which is scored. All the event will come with a lunch and a trophy for the winners. Enjoy the vid and look forward to seeing you on the point.
Special thanks to Jon Cresswell for the splendid media.

Lots of one to one training this morning in perfect conditions. Four clubs in attendance with lots of young shooters enjoying this superb historical range on the Dorset coast. Lots of sun kissed faces with big smiles. Tightest group achieved at 400 was 35mm by Warren Hathaway with his Bergara action in 308.

At EHRR we have two opportunities to show great marksmanship. The first Is the 50mm club, this is where a shooter manages a 50mm group at 400 yards with 5 rounds. The is rewarded with a 50mm patch (coming soon) The second is the range record which is 5 round group at 400 yards of 27mm. It’s stood for over a year now but yesterday it wobbled. One visiting shooter from a club visit managed a 21 mm group with his first 4 rounds then panic set in as this chap has been chasing the record for a while. Unfortunately his fifth round took the group to 56 mm. Unlucky bro, I was upset for you but also pleased at the same time the 27 mm still stands.

Fully booked out range day yesterday at EHRR with local club getting involved. Sun was out with a swirling 18mph wind causing a bit of mayhem opening up the groups. Tightest 5 round group of the day was a 68 mm with a AI in 6.5 Creedmoor. Big thank you to the RO team for managing. Special thanks to Brothers in Arms for sponsoring Dorset’s premier outdoor range and helping us stay open. Use it or lose it. Club bookings yesterday were Parkstone with new group of shooters progression through the NRA of the UK SCC requirements. Ferndown and Christchurch were also taking advantage of the great weather alongside some regular independent shooters.

The 2026 season kicks off with a bang at EHRR. Visiting club the TCRA had one of three comps this year with a Civilian Service Rifle match on Saturday. Several courses of fire finishing with a teams section attack on Fig 11s all great fun. EHRR will be running some very gentle introduction to CSR in the year so look out for that. This will culminate in a local Dorset surrounding club CSR match event with trophies etc later in the year. This should hopefully prepare some of you to jump into the NRA of the UK match events with some experience. Thank you for local club support including Brothers in Arms https://brothersin.store of Christchurch for supporting us.

We are coming to the end of 2025 and EHRR will now fall silent till the new year. I would like to thank those volunteers who have ROd cut grass painted frames and many many more things to get the first full year of this historic range running since it came back into civilian use. We could not have done it without you. Big thank you to the range owners for letting us take on the challenge. We are now planning next year and will publish range dates in good time. So thank you all and stay safe. EHRR wishes you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

CSR coming to EHRR in 2026.

Regarding our recent proof of concept CSR competition I took a vid of one competitor that would do me justice so as to demonstrate CSR. I chose Jim who’s a member of TCRA and regularity shoots comps at NRA of the UK. Please watch him as he goes through each step clearly and he’s pausing for the commands coming from the RO (turn sound up). It’s a “Watch Out” shoot so Jim is looking for targets to appear whilst walking down. This shoot is a 400 yard 10 shot with a walk down to 300 yards where it’s repeated so 40 shots in total. 400 and 300 are prone 200 is kneeling and 100 is standing. All in one go and the whole thing takes about 12 minutes from start to finish and shot on Fig 12s. Most CSRs are shorter and easier COF so remember this was advanced. In the new year we are looking to run CSR days for starters and intermediates. This will allow you to develop in a safe learning environment and have great fun Look forward to seeing you on the point.

Big weekend for Team EHRR. We were requested by TCRA to put on a proof of concept CSR match that met the range limits whilst retaining the special element of CSR. We had shooters from far and near to engage with this shoot which was well received by all who shot it. Multiple matches were held at multiple distances and run downs. Classic and straight-pull were fi****ms of choice and of all ages. Myself and the EHRR team were learning all aspects match coordination including how the 120 year old range coped with this more dynamic activity. We had the NRA of the UK competitions director shooting who I believe came 3rd in his classification who appeared to have enjoyed himself all day in attendance. He was joined by a vast amount of CSR experience which we attempted to absorb . Future plans are to re-run at local club level and generate a local interest in the CSR community for you to then push into the Bisley CSRs meets which take place through the year. These will be run in the spring and summer with a reduced level of expertise required so we can bed you in slowly. So if you’re interested in CSR please come and talk to us. We love to chat to you about it. Special thanks to EHRR team for their effort getting the range in a position to deliver this comp. Massive thank you to Raf Jah and his crew for having the trust and patience to allow us the space to learn.
Big thanks to Jon Cresswell for media and phots.
See you on the point.

Busy August at EHRR, lots of satisfied shooters and club events. From new to experienced, young and old we’ve certainly had a great summer. Made some great memories plus ample group therapy. Hand full of guys have entered the 50mm club but the range record of five round group at 400 yards of 27mm still stands strong. Lots of guys chasing it with groups in the 30mm range and it’s usually a flyer that ruins it 😂.
We are running a Civilian Service Rifle comp on the 11 October 2025 in conjunction with the TCRA who are running it at our venue. Classification of Rifles will mirror NRA guidelines. Please contact via messenger or look out on Spond if your already signed up.

Lastly a personal thank you to those who have joined us over the summer to keep EHRR Range active, it’s is solely RO’d and maintained by volunteers who are dedicated to keeping this range a number one destination in Dorset. Thank you.
See you on the next one and enjoy the vid.
