WBC were pleased to host the Falklands Islands Bowls Club this afternoon Thursday 3rd July. It was an enjoyable afternoon for all and was part of FIBC training on grass before they travel to the Orkney Islands where they are competing in this year’s Island Games. The Island Games is a biennial event and seen as a sort of mini Olympics for the smaller nations, with teams competing from places such as Guernsey, Jersey and Greenland etc.

This Thursday afternoon 3rd July commencing at 14:00pm, Wanborough Bowl’s Club are pleased to be hosting a visit from The Falklands Islands Bowls Club.
Their team consists of nine players and they have arranged to play against a team from our club at WBC as part of their training and to gain experience of playing on ‘grass’ prior to them then travelling to The Orkney Islands to compete in this year’s Island Games.
The Island Games is an annual event and seen as a sort of mini Olympics for the smaller nations, with teams competing from islands such as Guernsey, Jersey and Greenland etc.
This should be a fun afternoon and everyone is welcome to come along to spectate and to show community support.

Friday 9th May - From 6:00pm. Wanborough Bowls Club are celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with games with club members competing in Eight Teams: RAF, ARMY, NAVY, MERCHANT NAVY, LAND ARMY, HOME GUARD, NURSES & RED CROSS.
It is a fun event, everyone is welcome to come along and watch the fun and cheer on a team. Optional dress of Red, White & Blue.
There will be a Bar serving refreshments and also a raffle with prizes to mark the occasion to include, a Tin of Corned Beef, Pot of Jam and Liquorice Allsorts.

Our Official ‘Opening of the Green’ is Saturday 19th April 2025 from 14:00pm.Everyone is welcome, come along and join in...

Charity Fundraising Event in aid of Cancer Research UK.

In WBC’s first open invitation charity event, we invited complete novices to come along to the club and us our facilities to challenge friends, family or colleagues.

The £5 per head entry fee from all the participants was donated to CRUK, plus additional donations which were gratefully received. Even with the autumnal weather closing in, especially on the Sunday, the event had a good attendance and very enjoyable all-round: and managed to raise a total of £310.00. Thanks very much from WBC to all the visitors who helped make this weekend such a success, and our own members who mucked in.

On Sunday 29th September during our closing of the green afternoon session, WBC presented the cheque for £310.00 to representatives of CRUK. We hope to put on a similar event next year, so watch this space!
