🏑 COACH WANTED 🏑

Chorley Phoenix Hockey Club is looking for an enthusiastic and committed coach to lead our Ladies 1st Team for the 2026/27 season and beyond.

We’re a friendly, ambitious and growing club with 3 ladies teams, a fantastic club culture and plenty of potential both on and off the pitch.

If you’re passionate about player development, creating a positive environment and being part of a supportive hockey club, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re backing the 🏑 Every Pitch Matters challenge because grassroots hockey deserves more visibility.

As many of you know, Rob has coached our Ladies 1s while also building Hockey Uncut and now preparing for what could become one of the biggest grassroots hockey projects attempted — visiting hockey clubs across England to showcase the real hockey community.

Because of that commitment, Chorley Phoenix HC are now looking for a new Women’s 1st Team Coach to lead the next chapter of the team.

Interesting discussion...

No room for discrimination of any kind - we are a club FOR ALL

🚨 This was sent to us… and it’s uncomfortable.

“Are we brave enough to talk about this?”

We’ve had something brought to us.

A story about discrimination in hockey.
Homophobic comments.
A player feeling pushed out and isolated.

Not loud.
Not obvious.
But enough to make someone feel like they didn’t belong.

And now we’re left with a choice.

👉 Do we talk about it…
👉 Or do we skip past it because it’s uncomfortable?

Because let’s be honest…

Hockey prides itself on being inclusive.

But that doesn’t mean these things don’t happen.

The question is:

Are we brave enough to look at the ugly side of the game…
or do we pretend it isn’t there?

fans we would like to think we have a safe space for this discussion. If you think we should do more, get in touch

Menopause. 🧠
There - we’ve said it.

Something that doesn’t get enough:

acknowledgement ❗
recognition 👀
or adaptation 🔄 in hockey 🏑

We talk about performance 📈
We talk about fitness 💪
We talk about standards 🎯

But we don’t talk about what some players are actually dealing with.

Brain fog 🧠
Fatigue 😴
Confidence dips 📉
Slower reactions ⏱️

All showing up… on a hockey pitch 🏑

And too often, it gets labelled as:
❌“off form”
❌“not sharp”
❌“not quite at it”

When in reality - it’s something much bigger.

And that silence? 🤐
It’s costing teams players.

Men you are also part of the discussion... when was the last time you thought someone was off their game or why are they making that decision? Maybe say it, but then dismiss it? I know I do...

Chorley Phoenix are looking for a goal keeper who can play in Division 2 North starting immediately.

We are a team based in Chorley, home matches played at Walton-Le-Dale and training at Buckshaw.
