Immortal Bloom "Immortal Bloom"
An artistic exploration, working in circular design principles and waste materials.

Our name and inspiration derives from the very objects we have been transforming, themes of sustainability and regenerative processes. Through our research, we came across an immortal being living in our oceans: Turritopsis dohrnii. It is the most philosophically and biologically curious entity of those we have encountered through our research, and is the embodiment of sustainability. Turritopsis

dohrnii is capable of transforming into the infant stage (polyp form) into its mature form (medusa stage) and back again at its choosing. A grouping of these profound creatures is known as a 'bloom'. Naturally these principles have morphed into an analogy for creativity, rejuvenation and artistic growth.

So… We're doing a thing 💛

We’re putting together a beautiful FREE Family Day event on Friday 20th September (12–4pm at Fire & Water, Sowerby Bridge) as part of our Unseen Worlds project, and I’d love your help.

I’ve been working with some brilliant students from Ryburn Valley High School, many of whom face additional needs or economic barriers, exploring the tiny hidden worlds beneath our feet through microscopes, sculpture, photography and pure imagination ✨

We want to give them (and the wider community) a proper celebration, with an exhibition, drop-in art workshops, free food, and space for joy, creativity and connection.

We’re crowdfunding to raise £740 to make this happen, covering venue hire, materials, meals, transport and guest artist fees. If you can donate anything at all, or just share this link, it would mean so much 💛
