Today marks the day... 🚀🚀🚀
19 YEARS of DanKibbyFitness and my first PT session at the Village Hotel Walsall (May 2005)
I was a chubby kid but always loved football but having broke my leg at 15 and being uneducated on nutrition I didn’t live a healthy lifestyle (kebab meat and chips every lunchtime). However, It wasn’t until I was 17 and one of my old football managers embarrassed me during pre season training in front of everyone “Kibby you fat bas**rd, what you been up to during the summer” that made me do something about it. I never got to thank him 💔🪦 but I look back now and appreciated his honesty. I was out of shape and I respected his old school approach and pretty much have adopted the no nonsense no prisoners no snowflakes welcome approach into my business.
I met my good friend and mentor Lee Dickens in 2003 who gave me my break at JJB Fitness as a fitness instructor then promoted me to Fitness Manager and his number 2. He believed in me and encouraged me to become a Personal Trainer.
I must admit I was sceptical as I’d have to be paying rent every month to a gym, market and advertise myself, no sick pay, no holiday pay and with 0 guaranteed income 😬 but I decided to give it a go!
19 years on... still winging it !
Older and wiser but 💯 still as passionate in helping people transform their physiques, grow in confidence, accomplish insane physical challenges, overcoming grief or mental demons, educating nutritional principles, getting people more active and created an ever growing and ever revolving DanKibbyFitness community 💝
19 years on there is still no DanKibbyFitness magic wand or training plan that is the ‘secret’. The key to any success in life, business and your health & fitness is to be persistent, positive and consistent. The fundamentals will always remain...
# Be active (move more)... specific to each individual but nobody gets a good butt by sitting on it too much.
# Lift weights consistently (3-4 times per week) and have a goal, accountability and structure.
# Eat nutritiously but foods you enjoy and apply common sense with portion control.
Like I’ve mentioned above you don’t get a magical programme but you do get a PT who cares and strives for you to succeed!
2 time Ironman finisher and proud to have created my physique not ever touching any ‘juice’ 💉
