Shelfield Rangers 0-0 Brownhills West United
Rangers share points with local visitors, Brownhills West, after a good contest on Shelfield Park.
⏰First Half
A solid start from the Rangers, who put in a shift across the park to take a firm grasp of proceedings in the opening stages. Playing expansively in our spells in possession, we were just shy of that final bit of quality needed to cause our opponents problems defensively. We had our fair share of warning signs in the opening 45, the visitors created a couple of chances that came close to goal; including a great stop from our keeper. We remained resilient throughout and created chances of our own in spells with some testing football in the final third, displaying the threat we can cause with some great balls played through. A solid first 45 minutes of football from the shells, before our attention turned to the second half.
⏰Second half
This time out, Rangers looked a little unsteady in comparison to the previous half as play resumed, struggling the make the ball stick as we did so well in the opening half. Still off the ball we managed the game well, despite a frustrating time of it in possession as we saw our share of our time on the ball wasted on some occasions in a scrappy few passages. The opposition still looked to cause us some problems, our defensive resilience prevailed however as we kept ourselves in the game, in need of a steady few minutes in possession. After a closing 45, that required some grinding performances from our lads out there at times, the points were shared on Shelfield park as we keep another clean sheet heading into the end of the season.
🏆MOTM- Jake Millward
A case for both centre halves today, but Jake clinches it after a great showing from the Skipper. From the first to last whistle Jake remained solid at the back when we needed it most at times, playing out in the opening 45 as well, to see us off to some great spells in possession.
A solid performance, with slight frustration looming that we just couldn’t quite carry on with our first half efforts in possession. A good point on home turf, as we await news on upcoming fixtures with the season drawing to a close.
