There was a NIGHTMARE AT THE RISING SUN SPORTS GROUND FOR THE TYNE!
⚽️ MATCHDAY WRITE-UP ⚽️
North Tyne & Westholme FC 1–8 Wooler FC
Well… where do we even start with this one? 🤦♂️
Today’s game got off to an absolute messy start. A few changes to the starting XI saw Tyne come out looking like a team that had only just met each other! The passing was sloppy, the movement was missing and, quite frankly, we were close to running 💩.
Wooler took full advantage and found themselves 2–0 up, with Tyne completely off the gas.
There was a glimmer of life when Josh Stock managed to get through on goal and was brought down for a penalty. That gave Tyne a bit of va va voom and we attempted to find some sort of rhythm… unfortunately, that rhythm lasted about five minutes. 😂
Wooler went straight back at us and added another two, making it 4–0, while Tyne’s heads went west.
Management were not happy. There was plenty of shouting from the sidelines and changes were made all over the park in an attempt to get some control back. Eventually, Tyne started to actually play some football and showed glimpses of what we know this team can do.
Half-time arrived with the management having a full-on riot storm because, compared to the start of the season, this was a million miles away from the standards expected.
Into the second half and Tyne finally started putting some football together, creating a few half chances.
Then came a moment of either madness… or strength. 👀
A shoulder-to-shoulder challenge sent the Wooler player to the deck and saw midfield madman Lathen pick up his first yellow card of the season.
Lathen’s official response?
“The ref’s lost his mind.” 😂
Wooler continued to press and, despite some shots that wouldn’t exactly trouble the photographers, the inevitable happened and they went 5–1 up.
From there, Tyne’s heads dropped again. Passes stopped sticking, the mojo disappeared and we struggled to string anything together.
There was, however, some good work down the left between Justin, Karl and Jordan, resulting in a corner. A fumbled ball eventually dropped and Lathen attempted to send it over the bar with his left foot.
Then came the moment nobody wanted…
Another Wooler break down their right, a sloppy 50/50 and Lathen came away with the ball — only to find himself in the book again.
Second yellow.
RED CARD. 🟥
Lathen’s thoughts on the referee?
Let’s just say we’re not sure what desk the ref has been sat at all week, but clearly it’s done something to his eyes. 😂
Down to 10 men, Tyne had a mountain to climb and Wooler continued to press, eventually adding another three goals.
Full-time: North Tyne & Westholme FC 1–8 Wooler FC.
There’s no dressing this one up.
Today was:
💩 Sloppy Tyne
😤 Sloppy attitudes
😴 Lazy behaviour
⚽️ Not good enough
The only positive we can take from today?
We took good numbers back to Westholme Club Westholme Farm Social Club and absolutely smashed some belta 🍻 & beef butties. 🥩🥪😂
Back to the drawing board.
We know what this group is capable of, but today simply wasn’t good enough.
We go again.
