Wallingford RFC is a thriving rugby club, recognised as Sports Club of the Year in the prestigious Oxfordshire Sports Awards 2008. The 1st XV, having achieved promotion twice in successive seasons in 2006-07 and 2007-08, competes in South West 1 East League.Our 2nd XV has been equally successful, now playing in the Berks Bucks and Oxon Premier A League, also after 2 consecutive years of promotion. The recently formed 3rd XV participates in Berks Bucks and Oxon 2 South League.

M&J Update

We welcome Grove Minis to the Hithercroft tomorrow, plus the U15s have a home County Cup game versus Henley (being played over on J2.) Kick off for that is 10.30am. The U14s are on their travels at Reading.

It will given we're hosting 2 clubs be a busy morning, so please remember only permit holders (Coaches and Volunteers) and Wallingford Wolves/blue badge holders can park over the brook. Please follow the instructions of parking marshals. And remember overflow parking is only at Fugro, we do not have permission to park at Verda Park.

Have a great morning of Rugby, it could be the first muddy one, so for those who've not experienced that before old towels make good seat covers....as we know players seem to enjoy rolling around in puddles and mud!

Game Day

Only the one Senior Mens game today, with the Firsts welcoming Reading 2s to the Hithercroft. We are expecting a closely fought contest as we look to maintain our strong start to the season.

Kick off is at 2pm, as always your support is most welcome.

Here's the team news for tomorrow's game against Reading 2s. Kick off.is now at.the earlier than advertised time of 2pm.

Up front Matt Purnell returns to the front row, and there's a few changes in the back 5 with Ed Searle and Tom Diment a new combo in the second row. Travis Pretlove comes in for the injured Sam Botting (for whom we've had a lot of love this week.) Changes on the bench too, with Jasper Laidlaw in line for a debut.

Thank you to Nick Wiltshire for looking after Sam Botting after his injury, and to the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust crew who attended. We are all wishing Sam a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks to all who supported both sides today, it really was appreciated. Great to see a strong travelling support from Grove RFC at the Hithercroft today. 24-10 win for the Firsts, though we're all thinking of Sam Botting after his nasty looking injury. Heal well Sam.

The Seconds picked up a losing bonus point in a nail biter of a contest away to Aylesbury Rugby Football Club 2s going down 17-12.
