Well, the sun’s shining, the birdies are tweeting, the daffs are out and it’s getting warmer. So all our thoughts are turning to tennis at North Cheshire. Your committee has decided that Opening Day this year will be Saturday April 12, accompanied by a nice tea, so please get that date in your diary.
As always, there’s much preparatory work to be done before then (getting the courts playable, cleaning the pavilion, pruning, weeding and tidying our grounds etc). A particular challenge is to get our gardens and borders under control, and maintain them like they used to be. It’s always more fun if several members can get together, so we will have our first “working party” a fortnight today – Saturday March 8 afternoon, and each Saturday afternoon until the season starts.
Thinking further ahead, it would be lovely to maintain our flower garden throughout the year, so if you are in the least bit green-fingered, please think about taking the garden under your wing (perhaps in partnership with another member), so that it remains a distinct part of the club’s character over the spring, summer and autumn.
