WARM-UP:
Before you begin any type of exercise it is important to always perform a warm up. Your kettlebell challenge warm up exercises do not need to be complicated which is why I like to start my workouts with some light mobility drills such as arm and hip circles to get your body prepared.
Most of us have poor upper back mobility and tight hips due to extensive periods of sitting and general lack of movement during lockdown.
Poor upper back mobility results in an overuse of the shoulders, neck and lower back when performing exercises such as the kettlebell swing.
Whilst limited movement in the hips will cause excessive movement at the lower back usually resulting in back issues.
My solution? Practice the hinge pattern or the stick drill I posted here.
Then Perform KB Deadlifts to grease the groove.
Ok, let's get into the Challenge itself...
WORKOUT: 10 Rounds
1️⃣ Perform 10 kettlebell swings then put down the kettlebell (if you feel your KB is too light and not challenging you enough, perform 1 hand swings instead of 2 handed swings)
2️⃣ Then perform 10 reps of a bodyweight exercise (e.g. bodyweight squats, press ups, jumping up and down, a yoga movement like cat-cow, or if you are feeling brave, try 10 burpees 😱)
3️⃣ Rest accordingly and repeat for a total of 10 Rounds in total 💪
If you are hard core and want to make this Challenge even more challenging, you can look to use a heavier KB if you have one.
Or alternatively adjust the reps from 10 swings to 15 or 20 at a time and choose a more challenging bodyweight movement (such as pausing for 3 seconds at the bottom of your squats or press ups)
