🟒βšͺοΈπŸ¦† Let’s Get Quacking, Harriers!πŸ¦† βšͺ️🟒

The Newmillerdam Quacky Trail Race 5K is just around the corner, and we already have a fantastic turnout shaping up!
It's the next race on our Distance League calendar, and we currently have 14 Harriers signed up ready to tackle the trails on Wednesday 17th June.

It is brilliant to see that both Bobby and Katelyn are on the entry list to defend their titles after crossing the line as the overall first male and female finishers last year!

Spaces are filling up fast. There are only 98 places available left before the race caps out, so don't wait until the last minute and risk missing out.

πŸ¦† THE COURSE AT A GLANCE
If you haven't run it before, it's a fantastic, scenic evening trail race.

πŸ¦† THE ROUTE
A single, 5K loop through the beautiful Newmillerdam Country Park.

πŸ¦† THE TERRAIN
Expect an undulating, hilly, and beautifully wooded trail. It kicks off in the open area right around the Arboretum, takes you down through the woodlands, sweeps alongside the lakeside paths, and finishes with a climb back around the top section of the woods to the finish line.

πŸ¦† AGE GROUP PRIZES
There are official trophy categories for:
β€’ Juniors: Under 17s
β€’ Seniors & Vets: Over 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s
It’s a brilliant race for both our juniors and senior runners alike!

πŸ¦† SECURE YOUR SPOT
β€’ Entry Fees: Β£13.00 for Affiliated / Β£15.00 Unaffiliated
β€’ Race Link: https://racebest.com/races/hsefx

Grab an entry, get it in the diary, and let's get a massive club turnout! See you all on the trails.

🟒βšͺ️Harriers Excel on the Moors: 4th Open Team at the Bradford Millennium Way Relay! 🟒βšͺ

A massive congratulations to the 10 senior athletes who travelled to represent Wakefield Harriers at the prestigious Bradford Millennium Way Relay!

Competing against 46 top-tier teams across 47 miles and 6,300 feet of relentless Yorkshire climbing, the Harriers put on a brilliant display of consistency to bring home a phenomenal 4th Open Team finish in a superb total time of 6:47:28!

The day started in spectacular fashion on Leg 1, where Ben and Adam flew across the trails to finish 1st overall!
Clocking an impressive 1:22:22, they handed over the virtual baton at the very front of the field.

From there, the blueprint was pure consistency. Every single following pair stepped up on their leg, keeping the club right at the sharp end of the race.

Congratulations to all our duos-

β€’ Leg 1: Ben & Adam
β€’ Leg 2: Lucy & Shaun
β€’ Leg 3: Craig & Rob
β€’ Leg 4: Paul & Phil
β€’ Leg 5: Scott & Chris

To have all five legs perform at such an incredibly high standard is a testament to the immense depth, teamwork, and grit in the club right now. A very proud day for the green and white!

A huge amount of credit must go to Team Captain Stew Knowles. His hard work and organisation behind the scenes made getting a full, competitive 10-runner squad to the start line possible.

🟒βšͺ️ JOINT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: MAY βšͺ️🟒

Huge congratulations to Ben Butler!
Ben absolutely smashed the previous MV45 club record by a whopping 41 seconds, clocking a speedy 15:34!

After moving into his new age category in December, Ben set his sights on this long-standing record. Despite facing an injury setback at the start of the year, he stayed focused, rebuilt his training, and executed his goal flawlessly.

Incredible resilience and a truly inspiring performance. Congratulations from everyone at the club, Ben!

🟒βšͺ️ Club Record Success - MV45 5K βšͺ️🟒

A huge congratulations to Ben Butler on setting a new MV45 club record at the Mid Cheshire 5k.

After moving into the MV45 category in December, Ben faced an early setback with an injury at the start of the year. However, he put the work in, stayed patient, and focused on his rebuild.

That consistency has officially paid off.
Ben took 41 seconds off the previous record, setΒ  by Jon Convery in 2012.

Taking down a 14-year record is no easy feat, but it’s a brilliant reflection of Ben's dedication and focus.

⏱️The new record-15 minutes 34 seconds ⏱️

Fabulous racing, Benβ€” well done from everyone at our club πŸ’šπŸ€πŸ’š
