🟢⚪️ ANOTHER CLUB RECORD FOR JULIE! ⚪️🟢

A huge congratulations to Julie Briscoe, who continued her fantastic run of form at the EvenSplits York 5K, clocking a superb 18:58 to set a new Wakefield District Harriers & AC FV50 club record over 5K! 💚🤍

The York 5K series takes place on the flat, fast cycle circuit at the University of York Sport Village, perfect for fast racing and PB chasing.

This latest record follows on from her 10K and averaged pace 5k club record set in August.
Club records in quick succession and another brilliant performance - Well done Julie! 👏

🟢⚪️ GOLD & SILVER FOR EVIE MOORE! ⚪️🟢

What a fantastic day for Evie at the West Yorkshire Championships, coming away with two brilliant medals! 👏

🥇 Shot Putt — Gold Medal
Evie produced an excellent throw of 8.17m, just 13cm short of her personal best, to take the gold! 💥

🥈 Javelin — Silver Medal
Another strong performance saw Evie add a fantastic silver medal to her day.

It’s been brilliant to watch Evie develop throughout the season. Her progress is a real reflection of the determination, hard work, and commitment she brings to every training session.

But Evie’s contribution goes far beyond her own performances. She’s always willing to support and encourage the athletes around her, brings a great attitude to training, and genuinely brightens up every session. She has become a real asset to the throws squad and is an absolute pleasure to coach.

Two events. Two medals. A fantastic day at the West Yorkshire Championships. 🥇🥈

A massive well done, Evie! You should be incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved this season. Keep working hard — there’s plenty more to come!

🟢⚪️GOLD & BRONZE FOR WAKEFIELD IN THE 200M! ⚪️🟢

What a way to finish the season! Two Wakefield athletes, two fantastic performances and two medals in the 200m.

🥇 Ben Jackson — 23.59

A flying run from Ben to take GOLD and become West Yorkshire Champion.

🥉 Louie Burnell — 24.52

A brilliant performance from Louie to secure a well-deserved BRONZE.

The hard work these two have put in throughout the season really showed when it mattered. Their commitment, determination and effort in training have translated into fantastic performances on the track — and now medals to finish the season!

🟢⚪️ AGE CATEGORY WIN FOR NICKY! ⚪️🟢

What a way to sign off from her current age category! Nicky finished her final race before moving up an age group with a fantastic FV45 age category win at the Vale of York 10K!

With a birthday on the horizon, Nicky will soon be stepping into a new age category — and we can’t wait to see what she achieves next!

Huge congratulations, Nicky!

🟢⚪️ Go MATILDA! ⚪️🟢

What a day for Matilda at the West Yorkshire Track & Field League Championships! 🏆

🥇 200m — PB

🥇 Long Jump — PB 4.79m

🥉 Shot Put — PB by nearly a full metre!

That fantastic 4.79m long jump currently ranks Matilda 3rd in the UK for U13 girls 🇬🇧🔥

Three events. Three PBs. Two golds and a bronze. 👏

And if that wasn’t enough, Matilda also picked up the 2026 U14 League Winner’s Trophy 🏆🥇

A brilliant reward for all the hard work she’s been putting in recently. Huge congratulations, Matilda — a championship day to remember! 💚🤍

🟢⚪ A SHINY NEW PB FOR JONATHAN ⚪🟢

A cracking run from Jonathan at yesterday’s Vale of York Half Marathon, coming away with a shiny new PB!

Jonathan ran 1:27:59, taking exactly one minute off the 1:28:59 he recorded at the same race last year.

Jonathan committed to the PB attempt from the off!

“I felt like I’d gone too fast too soon, so it was a case of holding on a bit!”

And hold on he did — all the way to a fantastic 87:59.

A minute quicker over the same course 12 months on is a great marker of progress. Congratulations, Jonathan — superb running!

🟢⚪ A PB FOR NEW MEMBER LIAM ⚪🟢

What a fantastic start to life as a Harrier for new member Liam, who pulled on the green and white for his first race with the club on Friday evening.

Liam headed to the York Even Splits 5K, a fast and flat five-lap circuit that attracts plenty of runners with one thing in mind — securing a PB! And Liam did exactly that.

What a way to mark your debut in the green and white. Congratulations, Liam, and welcome to the club! 👏

⚪️🟢FUNETICS MULTI CHALLENGE – WOW! ⚪️🟢

On Saturday 29 August, we were delighted to host the Funetics Multi Challenge at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium, Wakefield, bringing together U10 and U12 boys and girls from Wakefield & District Harriers & AC and other local clubs.

Our young athletes took on a fantastic mix of events — 50m and 75m sprints, 400m and 600m races, long jump and howler throw — giving everyone the chance to run, jump and throw!

But what made the day particularly special was seeing so many young athletes competing, having fun and supporting each other. There was a brilliant atmosphere around the track, with plenty of encouragement, fantastic performances.

A huge THANK YOU to every volunteer who gave their time to help make the event such a success. From officiating and organising events to keeping everything running smoothly, days like this simply couldn't happen without you. 👏

And a very special thank you to Coach Alyce, who led the organisation of the event and put so much work into bringing the whole day together. 💚

We hope everyone who joined us enjoyed the day as much as we did. Friendship, achievement, community, and a love of athletics — this is what our club is all about.

🟢⚪️ NEW FROM WAKEFIELD DISTRICT HARRIERS & AC! ⚪️🟢

We’re launching Parkrun Tourism! 💚

Following feedback from our recent members’ survey, we’re introducing a new monthly social — a chance to explore different parkruns, run together, meet people from across the club and, most importantly, enjoy a well-earned cuppa and chat afterwards! ☕

📍 Our first stop: Nostell Priory
📅 Saturday 26th September

We’ll be heading somewhere different on the last Saturday of each month, starting with some great local parkruns — preferably ones with a good café nearby!

Whether you’re chasing a PB, enjoying an easy run, jogging, walking, or volunteering, the idea is simply to get together, socialise, and enjoy parkrun with clubmates.

⚪️Don’t forget your barcode!
⚪️Don’t forget your club kit!
⚪️Wear your Harriers vest with pride!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Friends and family are very welcome to join us too.
☕ And stick around afterwards for a cuppa, some brekkie and a natter!

For Nostell, there are toilets and a café in the courtyard near the start. If you’re driving, bring a spare parkrun barcode to display in your car for free parking, and allow a little extra time for the walk from the car park to the start.
