Congratulations to our Under 18 Young Lions team who today won the League Championship by defeating Crossbank Methodists by 7 wickets. Crossbank made 119 in their overs before the Wrens chased down the target for the loss of 3 wickets. Player of the match was awarded to Alfie Holden for a magnificent spell of 7 overs 3 for 8 and 49 with the bat. Well done to all involved 🏆

2nd XI Match Report

Vs. Crossbank Methodists (A)

The 2nds visited Crossbank on Saturday. Batting first, Craig Wright (Sponsored by S & J Marshall Entrepreneurs) battled hard on his way to 25. Dave Englefield (Sponsored by Spirit Primary Care) struck 3 sixes on his way to 46. Captain Nathan Ellis One Stop Scaffolding & Netting Services LTD made a steady 32 not out and received good support from Will Godridge 27. Harrison Rourke Madison May struck 3 monstrous sixes as the Wrens finished 184/8.

In reply, Crossbank were going well at 105-0 before Joshua Foreman MCS Air Conditioning produced an excellent spell taking 4-33 from 9 overs. He was backed up excellently by fellow youngster Henry Dennis with 5 overs 2 for 7. With the Wrens having fought their way back into the game, the young bowlers held their nerve and restricted the runs. George Braim bowling the final over to keep Crossbank at bay finishing 180/9. A win by 4 runs for the Wrens.

1st XI Match Report

Vs. Crossbank Methodists (H)

The 1sts hosted Crossbank yesterday, batting first Alfie Holden Garden Gate Bakery started well with 40, he was backed up by Janu Wewalwala Yorkshire Surfacing & Contracting Ltd. Who made 60. Youngsters Sam Anderson 54 Thornton Jones Solicitors and Kush Chaturvedi 50 Tillybods Artisan Sandwich Maker & Coffee Bar hit impressive half centuries before a late cameo from Charlie Holden 28 off 14 (Sponsored by Garden Gate Bakery) saw the Wrens finish 291 all out.

The 2nd innings was abandoned with Crossbank 58/4 and Janu Wewalwala taking 3-34.

Sunday Development XI Match Report

Vs. Wakefield St Michaels (H)

The Development team welcomed nearby St Michaels to Bragg Lane End yesterday. Having elected to bat first, the Wrens made a composed start with Harry Ellis (Sponsored by Team Sambuca) making 23. Following a flurry of wickets, the Wrens were 99/8 but Alfie Holden Garden Gate Bakery impressed on his way to making 60. He was supported well by Imran Khan who made 29 not out. The Wrens eventually finishing 181/9.
In reply, Joshua Foreman MCS Air Conditioning struck twice early on his way to taking 2-31. He was backed up well by Henry Dennis 2-30 and an impressive spell from Sam Anderson Thornton Jones Solicitors 3-12 put the Wrens on top. Unfortunately the rain came and with play unable to continue, the match was abandoned with St Michaels 105/8. The points shared.

The season for the Development XI has now come to a close with the Wrens likely to finish 3rd in the championship. A big well done to all the youngsters who have played this season with many making their senior cricket debuts, it has been great to see and long may it continue 🏏
