Under 11 Match Report

Vs. Hunslet Nelson (H)

The Under 11s hosted Hunslet Nelson in the semi final of the Peter Myers Cup. Bowling first, Finley S, Huey and Ted all took 2 wickets each, with Isaac and Zach picking up a wicket apiece. Hunslet Nelson made 103/8 and a net score of 263.

The reply got off to a flyer for the Wrens as Huey despite getting out twice blasted 58 runs to put the target within reach after the first pair. He was backed up well by Saathvik who made 18 before Ted, Isaac and Finley all hit 21. The Wrens finished with a massive 172/3 and a net score of 357. A win by 94 runs and a place in the final earned.

The final will be against Methley next Tuesday at Wrenthorpe 🏆

Vs. Colton Institute (H)

The 11s welcomed table topping Colton to Wrenthorpe next up in the Leeds League. Bowling first, there was an early run out and wicket for Finley. Some excellent batting in the middle pairs propelled the score forward with Isaac picking up a wicket. Ted found 2 late wickets to leave Colton ending 130/5 and a net score of 305.

In reply, Vishvan started positively with 10, he was backed up by Sam 22 and Ted 12. Louis and Jacob both made 12 also, however after losing 4 wickets 26 was required with the last pair. Despite the best efforts of Finley who finished on 13, the Wrens came up just short with 120/4 and a net score of 300. A loss by 5 runs.

Under 15 Match Report

Vs. Hunslet Nelson (A)

Wrenthorpe u15's made the trip to South Leeds to face Hunslet Nelson in this HW League encounter.

Winning the toss the Wrens elected to bat on a glorious sunny evening. Captain George B (19) was quick out the blocks crunching a few to the ropes but Hunslet Nelson hit back strong and started to take wickets at regular intervals with batters staying in single digits. At 49-6 Oli H (29) settled and knocked the ball around and later supported by Seth (20) as Wrens finished on a competitive 114-8.

Fired up, the Wrens entered the field with some swagger, energy and plenty of voice. Fair play to Joshua for taking the gloves behind the stumps. Our opening bowling pair of George and Henry went about their business producing the best opening spell of an innings this season for u15's. George finished with 3 wickets for 7 runs whilst Henry claimed 4 wickets for 6 runs, both with a maiden each too from the opening 8 overs. Dan also picked up a wicket and a superb fielding stop from Aadhi resulting in a fielding team run out to close the innings. Great decisions by George in the field enabling all players to get at least an over so everyone contributed to a fantastic performance and win by 43 runs.
