The cricket action is not quite finished at The SCG…tomorrow night sees a momentous occasion as the newly formed Sandal CC U11 Girls softball team play their first fixtures with games against sides from Wrenthorpe CC and Wakefield Thornes CC. 6pm start. All welcome to give all the girls some support.

The SCG looks magnificent ahead of tomorrow’s final Bradford League game of the season. As a club, we are fortunate to have our Groundsman Andy Noble who goes above and beyond week in week out to prepare a superb place to play league cricket. Tomorrow’s 1st XI game v Bankfoot CC starts at 1130am and the bar will be open from 12 noon. All welcome.

Final senior games of the season…this Saturday sees our senior sides complete the 2026 season. The 1st XI host Bankfoot CC at The SCG whilst the 2s make the short journey to Hunslet Nelson CC.

All players, families, friends and supporters are welcome at the Clubhouse on Saturday to celebrate another excellent season with a “Kangaroo 🦘Court” session due to be held from 7.30pm.

🏏 GIRLS CRICKET AT SANDAL CRICKET CLUB 🏏

We’re really excited to be growing our newly formed girls cricket team for girls aged 6–11.

The team is still in its early stages, so this is a brilliant time to come along, make new friends and be part of something from the beginning.

🌟 No previous cricket experience needed
🏏 Fun, friendly coaching
👭 A welcoming girls team environment
😊 Great for confidence, teamwork and keeping active

We already have a lovely group of girls enjoying their cricket and we’d love to welcome more new players.

This Saturday sees the 1st XI host Birstall CC at The SCG with the 2s making the short trip to the same club. Fingers crossed for a dry day and further strong performances from our senior sides.

A depleted 1st XI made it 4 wins on the bounce yesterday at Hanging Heaton CC. Sole seamer Umar Abbas led the way with the ball taking 3-63 after the hosts were inserted on a green top.

The lads then masterminded the perfect run chase. Leighton Shuttleworth (59) and sheet anchor Sam Owen (36) prepared the base for Sohail Hussain (87) and Sasindu Malshan (47) to apply the toppings before the big artillery Umar Abbas and Denson Narayan rolled in to finish the job reaching the 273 target with an over to spare.

The 2s battled hard at The SCG with skipper Scott Fairbrass (72) leading the charge to rebuild the innings from 44/6 to post 161.

The lads fought to defend a modest total with Leigh Learie (5/64) and Lee Geldard (3/37) taking it to the wire but the visitors just made it over the line with 2 wickets to spare.

Two fantastic games of cricket and another marvellous social event back at the club later in the evening.
