We run 3 Senior Teams and thriving junior section with teams at Under 9, 11, 13 and 15 age groups.

As the season winds down we’ve one more notable cricket event to talk about. Tomorrow - Monday 14th - our under 9 girls softball team will play their first match. As far as we know this will be the first all girls match for any Wakefield Thornes team. So all the best to all the girls taking part. The game (s) will be against Sandal and Wrenthorpe with a 6pm start at Sandals Barnsley Road ground

Wakefield Thornes Cricket Club have the privilege of hosting this year's K3 Dental Cup Final Cawthorne Cricket Club v York Cricket Club

Congratulations to both teams on reaching the final and to Umpires Dunk Jones and Matthew Tyers who have been appointed to officiate the final too.

Slightly delayed because of the weather ☔☔ but the hunt for the K3 Dental Cup Final 🏆 resumes next weekend.

📅 Date Sunday 6th September 2026

⏰ Time: Ground open from 9:30am / Match starts at 12:00 Noon.

📍 Where: Field Lane, Wakefield, WF2 7RT.
What’s in store for you:

BACON SARNIES WILL BE ON OFFER IN THE PAVILION FROM 10AM!

Our very own Greg Wadsworth Greg Thomas will be on the PA System.

🏏 High-Stakes Cricket: Watch the finalists battle it out for the cup!

🍻 Fully Stocked Bar: Cold beers & lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks flowing all day. The Bar & Kitchen will be open from 11:30am. Coffee and Tea will also be on sale too.

No Alcohol to be brought onto the premises please.

🍔 Our Head Chefs Fergus Donnachie and son Kieran Donnachie will be lighting the BBQ at 1pm! Sizzling sausages / burgers and hot food served fresh off the grill throughout the day!
Programmes will be available on the day at the gate as you drive in.

🚨 Date for the Diaries! Its just over a fortnight now until Wakefield Thornes Cricket Club have the privilege of hosting this year's K3 Dental Cup Final, Cawthorne Cricket Club v York Cricket Club.

Many Congratulations to both teams on reaching the final and to Umpires Alan Mynett and Duncan Jones who have been appointed to officiate the final too.

The biggest game of the season is almost upon us, the K3 Dental Cup Final, and we are ready for an incredible day of action on and off the pitch!
