Iβm a bilingual (Dutch/English) Empowerment Life Coach and would love to hear from you! About me:
I'm Milou Harlock, 35 years old and I live with my husband and two boys (aged 10 and nearly 4) in Wakefield, England. I was born in The Netherlands and after starting our family over there, we moved to the UK in 2016. The culture shock was bigger than I imagined considering there's only a sea in betw
een, but I've loved every minute of it. I think it's safe to say that there have been two major events in recent years, which made me re-evaluate my life and purpose. Back in 2014 I was diagnosed in the pre-stage of cervix cancer and it had me tumble into a nervous breakdown and burnout. The 'always stay one step ahead' and 'always work hard and never stop' mindset had taken its toll and all of a sudden I wasn't able to take care of my son, work or even make a simple sandwich anymore. I was off of work for 12 months and it then took me 9 months phased-return to get back into my 30 hours working-week routine. Then in 2018, after our second son was born in the UK, my husband experienced a big trauma. Not long after, he developed speech issues and had dissociative episodes on a daily basis. For a certain amount of time we had to communicate in writing, because he couldn't speak or even make a sound for days. It has without a doubt been a challenging journey to understand, learn and develop coping skills ever since. Though, I'm very pleased to say that we are all doing better and have accepted a life with C-PTSD. Both events have been extremely hard, though I'm very grateful I had my nervous breakdown. It has probably been one of the best things that could have happened to me. I imagine that sounds weird, but it simply gave me the time and possibilities to learn more about me. All the questions of: 'What am I worth?' - 'What do I want for me?' - and being able to learn that 'I am good enough.' It all has worked in my advantage and I now know that: 'What I do is good enough.' Which is such a relief and makes everything around me so much more enjoyable. Why an "Empowerment Life Coach?"
Well, the events have made me realise what difference a positive change of mindset can make. It simply intrigues me how it brings possibilities, how powerful it is and what incredible effects it has in every component of life. Negativity changes into positivity, a 'can't do'- attitude changes into a 'can do'-attitude. And how amazing is life when you are actually able to experience it to the fullest? I was 'given' the opportunity to make my life better, more positive and happier. So my dream and purpose is to pay it forward: I want to help other people achieve their dreams, find out what they want in their lives and how they want to live it to the fullest achieving their goals and dreams. Being an Empowerment Life Coach is a dream come true. Every person is unique and I'm simply fascinated by everyone's story and journey in life. I feel grateful and honored for the honesty and trust that clients give to me in the coaching sessions and beyond. If you wonder if I can help you or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and/or follow me for more insight. I am more than happy to elaborate about the programs I offer and get to know you. Yours sincerely,
Milou Harlock,
Empowerment Life Coach
