George has been with us since May 2025. He came from rugby with a shoulder injury reoccurring dislocation. The beautiful thing about CrossFit is it can be scalable to suit your needs, fitness level, injuries or where ever you are at that day.
George has certainly shown by turning up and scaling when necessary huge improvements can still be made. He comes in works hard, challenges himself but also knows when to back off and scale.

Q: What is your name & what do you do?
A: My name is George Thomas, I’m a farmers son from the local area, but work for South West Water.

Q: How long have you been with CrossFit Wadebridge Four kings?
A: Just over a year.
••••
Q: What is your biggest achievement so far?
A: Having never been to a gym before, everything is a nice achievement.
But working towards my target of 100kg clean. That’s a movement I enjoy so I like to see that come up in a workout. (Currently at 97.5kg)
It’s nice to have reached a point where I’m able to do some of the workouts Rx, and be able to push myself against the more seasoned participants in the gym.

Q: What is your “why” for coming to us?
A: Fitness, I love being fit and able to go out and do whatever I fancy. Whether that’s random park runs or walking up mountains with my dog.
I’ve played rugby for 18 years, but had to temporarily stop due to a shoulder issue, four kings is keeping me fit, whilst improving my strength. It’s good as I’m able to work around the injury and keep pushing myself.

Q: What keeps you coming back for more?
A: The people in the gym, I’m not really a people person but I enjoy the company and have made some good friends over the year.
It’s good to have some competition with everyone, to push each other, whether that’s to use the heavier weight, or push yourself harder on the runs/ rower.
People say that once you get into it, you get a bug for it, that does seem to be true.
