The Black Swans softball team picked up a second win of the season as they and hosts Bude battled the weather to play a well spirited match this evening.

Bowling first Danni set the team off to a good start as she picked up the first of her two wickets in the first over, with Poppy and Laura also picking up two wickets each, and Issey one. There were good catches from Laura and Poppy with an amazing direct hit from distance run out from Lara.

With the waves crashing against the shore and headlands getting further clouded by the misty rain, the Swans were disciplined with the bat as Katie top scored, closely followed by Laura and Issey as the team got their best score of the season to date.

Thank you to Bude for a very friendly game despite the horrid weather, to both umpires for sticking it out and to everyone who supported, including our gorgeous team dog 🐢!

Next week it is the battle of the Swans and Cygnets, may the best team win!!!!

The Black Cygnets put in their best performance yet in their fledgling first season as they recorded a 90 run win at St Austell in tonight’s softball league game.

Bowling first Evie set the tone with a wicket in the first over and the team carried on that momentum throughout their bowling and fielding effort. Evie added a second wicket and there were also 2 wickets for Tamsin and 1 wicket each for Lara, Issey and Molly. The highlight though was the fielding effort with catches for captain Laura, Molly, Izzy and Purdey and the most amazing run out by Evie as she hit one stump from 30 yards with a direct hit with an incredible throw that had everyone applauding.

The batting effort faced a disciplined start before the pairs found their groove, with Evie completing her superb all round performance by top scoring. Tamsin, Issey, captain Laura and Lara also hit double figure scores with positive running and some boundary hitting, as they achieved a great win with everyone performing so well.

Big thanks to St Austell for being a great and friendly team to play, and for putting on a lovely tea afterwards. Thanks also to both umpires, scorers and to everyone who came down and supported the team.

Congratulations team, a real performance to be proud of.
