What a great game between St Minver u11 girls and Wadebridge u11 girls on Sunday. Both teams had gained in confidence since the last match and played with skill and spirit.
Captain Izzy won the toss with her choice of scissors and put the home team in to bat. Harriet then took a wicket with the first ball and we went on to bowl our 12 overs very tidily. Izzy took 2 more wickets in her 2nd over and there was another wicket for Grace; her first ever. Wadebridge batted very well, with their 2nd pair pushing the score on rapidly; they finished on 250-4.
In reply, Harriet and Lorna batted confidently and took the score to 225 with some stylish strokes and an excellent boundary from Harriet. Next came Grace and Phoebe and Grace gave us a fantastic display of how to call loudly and clearly to your partner; between them running lots of quick singles and twos.
Finally Izzy and Harleen came in to bat needing 13 runs off their 4 overs. Again, they communicated well and played some super shots, with boundaries, twos and singles. Some excellent bowling from Wadebridge pegged our score back but some super work from both players secured the win for us by 1 run.
Thanks to Wadebridge for hosting us and for all our supporters. Girl power!

Results:

The weekend just gone saw both teams claim big wins. The first team showed a real team effort with nearly all batsmen chipping in with runs. Andy Rathborne top scoring with 63. Then proceeding to bowl Saltash out for 202 claiming the full 20 points. Rob Hawken the pick with 3-25. The second team travelled to Grampound. Bowling first they restricted them to just 89. Nigel Hocking with yet another 5 wicket haul. The 2's then chased it down 12 overs. Sam Hocking with a quick 35 and Steve Hawke with 31 did the damage. 20 points for both teams and another big weekend for the club.

Our U11 girls played their first competitive match against Wadebridge. Our visitors batted first and scored 237-3, in reply St Minver scored 267-1.
There was super bowing, fielding and batting on show from both sides which was enjoyed by all the supporters.
Both teams grew in confidence through the game and played with great spirit - thanks to Wadebridge for the opportunity.

Match results

This weekend saw the first team travel to Roche hopimg to keep up the fine form. Roche batted first, posting 276-7 from their 45. Big wickets from Rob Hawken and Anthony Ash kept the total from getting away us. In reply the innings got off to shakey start losing 3 quick wickets for just 12 runs. However a partnership worth 136 between Alex Scullard (105*) and Matt Hartnett (69) gave them hope. A superb innings of 105* from 100 balls from Alex guided St Minver along to another win. 18 big points for the 1sts.

The 2nds hosted St Stephens at home. St Stephens batted first and their innings came to an end in the 40th over. A brilliant spell of 4-16 from his ten overs led the way with back up from Neil Meneer with 2-31 from his alloted. A big shout out to the fielding this week, as 3 run outs took place. 2 for Andy Cameron and 1 for Dicky Wills. St Minver needed 153 to win. Neil Kent (33) and Neil Meneer (42) made a solid start to the innings. A Cameo from Arthur Nott-Bower (18) and the great work from Andy Cameron (28*) saw us across the line for the loss of 8 wickets. Nothing like making a game of it. 19 vital points for the seconds.

Two brilliant results for the club as for the third week in a row we see a double win weekend. Again massive thank you to Photography With Grace for sponsoring this weeks match. And thank you for all the support! We go again next week.

What a brilliant season we’ve enjoyed; competitive matches, fun times, great teamwork and fantastic coaching. 18 players have represented St Minver Women this year and everyone has been a fantastic role model for women’s cricket.
