EQ Bands highlight asymmetry in riders through immediate feedback in the body.

The bands help to activate rider’s seat and core, help hip and shoulder stability, aid in the development of correct muscle engagement and improve posture and balance. All of this through gentle resistance.

We have had some great sessions with the bands recently, both riding and teaching with them.

Thank you to and for allowing me to practice on them and their beautiful horses.

Just over a year since we moved the horses to living out all year round. To be honest, I found the adjustment to not having stables harder than them! 🤣

The winter is hard for everyone with horses, but this winter was the first one that Zaira did not develop a cough and did not need her hay soaking. Midnight went the whole winter without a rug on at all. Keeping the horses moving all winter has been amazing for their skin, circulation, feet and for Zaira’s arthritis. Not to mention their mental well-being, having more freedom and free choice as to whether to use the field shelter or not.

Really grateful too that we have some lovely like-minded people with gorgeous horses and ponies around us, especially 🥰

I’ve learnt a lot this winter about how to do things and how to manage the land, and will be making some small adjustments next winter, but fully intend on keeping the horses living out if I can 😊🐴

Nature provides.

It’s the perfect time of year to forage the hedgerows for plants and herbs that our horses love to eat.

Horses are natural foragers, but sometimes the way we keep them means they don’t have access to the hedgerows.

Collecting a handful each day is a great way to offer nutrient-rich plants and herbs.

Alternatively, taking our horses on in-hand forage walks is another fun way of adding diversity into their diet.

Today I picked :-

🌿 Cleavers (sticky w**d) - supports the lymphatic and urinary system.
🌿 Dandelion - supports digestion and liver health.
🌿 Cow parsley - supports the digestive system, kidneys and respiratory system.

‼️ Do ensure you are picking cow parsley and not the similar looking but deadly Hemlock.

Wilted nettles also offer a wide array of nutrients that are essential for immune support, bone health, digestion and help in reducing joint pain and inflammation.

Unlock the hidden benefits of these wild and free hedgerow plants today! 🐴

Thrilled to announce that this week I will be training to become an Accredited Coach for EQ Bands.

EQ Bands are resistance bands designed to enhance rider stability and communication and create more symmetrical, balanced riders.

We’ll be looking at sports psychology, biomechanics and working with the rider as an athlete.

In turn we help our horses to avoid injury and feel more comfortable carrying us as riders.

Will post updates as the week progresses ☺️🐴

Nine more days of this pesky Mercury Retrograde then it’s Spring!

And that’s a wrap for Saturday BHS lessons at for this year!

There’s been a great deal of hard work, perseverance and dedication this year from the riders, staff and volunteers who make up our Saturday crew.

Thank you so much for the endless cups of tea, and for all the cards and gifts I received today.

Today, one of my riders cantered for the first time. She said she felt like she was “flying” ❤️

So, to our wonderful horses and ponies

Thank you for teaching us lessons no one else can;
Thank you for helping us to fly;
Thank you for listening when no one else does;
Thank you for giving us courage to face our fears;
Thank you for making us smile;
Thank you for trusting us ❤️🐴

Style icon Midnight sporting her gorgeous “winter look” today. Queen of coziness Midnight layered up with her unclipped warm hairy black coat doubled up with a layer of dried mud on top. Even when she isn’t trying Midnight is such a style superstar. Layering wet and mud over a hairy thick black coat? Not everyone could pull that off, but she’s a professional. 🤣
