It is with a heavy heart that I am sharing that my lovely mum Sarah died on Thursday evening.
In June this year, just a week or so after we celebrated her 70th birthday, my mum was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer which had spread to her spine and liver. And since then it has been a rollercoaster...
My mum faced this cruel illness with amazing grace, pragmatism and unshakeable faith in God. She spent the last few months of her life in hospital, at St David’s hospice and finally in a nursing home: even through intolerable pain she took the time to get to know and show gratitude towards each every person looking after her, from consultants to nurses, care workers to cleaners. She said this gave her illness some purpose at least.
Anybody who has met my mum will not be surprised by this. You will have experienced her infinite kindness, gentle spirit and boundless wisdom. Her emotional and physical hospitality was second to none. She had the capacity to find good in everybody and her goodness encouraged others to do the same.
I am so grateful that we have had these last few months with my mum, my dad, brother, sister, brother and sister in law and all mum's grandchildren (she was truly the biggest champion of each and every one of them!). Knowing that our time together was limited made it all the more precious and I know that this "heads up" is a privilege not everybody is afforded.
Mum wished to be buried at Usk Castle Chase Natural Burial Meadow just across the fields from our house. We do not have a date yet, but if you wish to come please message me privately and I will let you know when we have a date.
As a family we are requesting donations in lieu of flowers in Sarah's memory. Any funds raised wi… Jessica Moore needs your support for In memory of Sarah
