Sometimes 24 hours is all you need.

David and I snuck away for a little reset — a place we always seem to come back to when life feels busy and we need a moment to properly switch off.

There’s something about arriving somewhere familiar, warm and intimate that instantly makes you exhale. The minute we walk through the doors here, everything slows down. No rushing. No schedules. Just space to breathe, relax and recharge.

A trip to the gym to earn the beautiful facial and massage this afternoon, time spent enjoying the spa facilities, a lovely dinner this evening, and that feeling of being completely looked after for a little while. It’s amazing what a short 24-hour escape can do for the mind and body.

So grateful for these little moments away together 🤍

Rest. Reset. Rejuvenate. Then back home ready for everything ahead.

Today was the first opportunity I’ve had to start setting up our brand new equipment room at the studo ...

I was teaching all day so I got into the studio at 7am this morning just so I could give myself an hour to start playing with some of the new equipment in our brand new equipment room 🩵

As instructors, we spend so much time guiding others that moments where we get to simply play, learn, and move ourselves are so important.

I’m now putting together our brand new 'Introduction to Equipment 4-week courses, which will be starting in August and running every Monday throughout the month (yes finally opening the studio on a Monday!).

The classes will be going live on TeamUp this evening.

New equipment. New challenges. New ways to move… and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to PT Pilates Usk 🩵

Six years ago, I arrived back in the UK with my children, rebuilding our lives from scratch as a single mum after leaving Dubai.

This weekend, I handed my youngest son the keys to his first car for his 17th birthday — and honestly, it was one of those moments that quietly stops you in your tracks.

Not because it’s about a car.
But because of what it represents.

The long days.
The uncertainty of starting over.
Building a business from passion.
Choosing to keep going even when life felt overwhelming.

I often joke that being a workaholic is a family trait — but the truth is, I’ve worked incredibly hard because I wanted to create stability, opportunity, and a life my children could feel proud of.

What matters most to me isn’t material things. It’s that my boys grow up seeing resilience, consistency, and hard work modelled in real life. That they understand you can rebuild. You can create something meaningful from nothing. And that passion, when paired with persistence, can completely change the direction of your life.

I’m proud of the business I’ve built, grateful for the opportunities it’s given us, and even more grateful that my children have been part of the journey every step of the way.

Here’s to exciting new chapters ahead — one son starting to drive, and another working hard towards his A-levels and hopefully university next year.

Sometimes the biggest achievement is simply not giving up. 🚗🩵

A few weeks ago, I was interviewed by Aston University for their annual alumni magazine, which is shared with more than 50,000 alumni worldwide. Today, the editorial team travelled from Birmingham to visit our PT Pilates studio for the accompanying photoshoot.

As an Aston graduate from 1995, this felt particularly meaningful. My time at university remains one of the happiest periods of my life — not only academically, but personally. Aston is where I formed friendships that have lasted a lifetime, and those friendships are still some of the most important in my life today.

The interview focused on my journey from an 18-year career in global tech leadership to building a Pilates business following my MS diagnosis — a path I could never have predicted when I first walked onto campus as a student.

What made today even more memorable was being able to showcase not just the studio, but also the incredible beauty of Wales. With the sunshine making a rare but very welcome appearance, we headed outdoors for some of the photography, where I was unexpectedly asked to demonstrate a little balance and core control along the way!

I’m incredibly grateful to Aston for giving me the opportunity to share my story. It was a reminder that careers and lives rarely follow a straight line, and sometimes the most unexpected chapters become the most meaningful ones.

I’m looking forward to seeing the feature published later this year 🩵

You revisit that ONE Reformer exercise you pretend doesn’t exist…

Control Balance Off.
Yes… my least favourite exercise in the entire Reformer repertoire. I said what I said. 👀

Honestly, it feels a bit like attempting a cartwheel off the reformer while trying to channel your inner ballet dancer… which we all know is not my natural skill set 😂

It’s basically Tree meets Rolling Like a Ball:
✨ one leg reaching up
✨ one leg reaching down
✨ me questioning all my life choices

And whilst it’s an advanced classical exercise that definitely has its place, it’s also one I rarely teach because let’s be honest — it’s not the most accessible movement for many clients, especially with neck, shoulder or back issues.

But every now and then I give it another go… just to remind myself why I don’t like it 🤣

Any other instructors have a “no thanks” exercise in the repertoire? Please tell me I’m not alone 🙋‍♀️

One of my lovely clients is struggling with some hip issues at the moment, and it really got me thinking about how much time so many of us spend with our hips in a constantly flexed position… sitting at desks, on trains, in the car, working long hours, and rarely moving through their full range.

Over time, that lack of movement can leave the hips feeling stiff, tight, uncomfortable, and sometimes even painful.

So I wanted to share a few simple but really effective exercises to help mobilise the hips, create space, and encourage a little more freedom of movement.

Movement doesn’t always have to be intense to be beneficial — sometimes the body just needs gentle, consistent mobility work and a reminder that it’s allowed to move well again.

Hopefully I’ll see her back in one of my classes soon when work calms down a little, and we can put some of these into practice together 🩵

If you spend most of your day sitting, your hips will probably thank you for trying a few of these too.
