LOOKING AFTER THE PEOPLE WHO LOOK AFTER OUR HORSES 🐴

A couple of weeks ago, Lindsey and I delivered a bespoke Pilates and movement workshop for a group of local farriers at The Three Salmons in Usk as part of their CPD.

Farriery is incredibly demanding on the body — long hours spent bent forward, working in repetitive and often one-sided positions, placing huge demands on the back, hips, shoulders and wrists.

We focused on movements specifically designed to counter some of those demands — spinal mobility and rotation, hip and shoulder mobility, strength and stability.

After a full day’s work, it was brilliant to see how much they threw themselves into it — and even better to hear afterwards that we’d made the session genuinely “farriery friendly”!

We finished with our Farriers Fantastic 5 — 5 simple movements they can use regularly to help keep their bodies moving well. We’re now creating short videos so they can continue using them at home.

We absolutely loved supporting our local farrier community. 🩵

California calling… 🇺🇸🚣‍♀️

Today we had our final 1:1 with the lovely Eleanor before she jets off to California on Friday to begin an incredible new chapter at UC Berkeley on a Women’s Rowing Athletic Scholarship.

From Monmouth Comprehensive School, to representing Great Britain at U19 level, and now heading across the Atlantic to one of the world’s leading universities — what an achievement.

Eleanor first came to us with lower back pain and one very clear goal: to get stronger, stay pain-free and make sure her body was ready for the demands of university rowing.

And her commitment has been incredible.

Throughout the summer she has trained with us regularly — sometimes up to three 1:1 Reformer sessions a week — working particularly hard on strengthening her glutes and hamstrings and building the strength and resilience she needs to perform at her best.

She has put the work in every single week, and it has been an absolute pleasure to be a small part of her journey.

Now it’s time for the next adventure. ☀️🇺🇸🚣‍♀️

We wish you ALL the luck in the world, Eleanor. Enjoy every second of Berkeley, keep up that Reformer Pilates in California 😉 and we’ll be ready to welcome you back onto ours whenever you’re home for the holidays.

At 4pm I took the first tablet of my second year of Cladribine treatment for my MS.

I’m incredibly grateful that treatments like this exist, and to my amazing MS team for giving me the opportunity to take it. This is hopefully my final year of treatment, with five days of tablets now and another five days in a month’s time.

The week ahead may bring a few side effects as it does its job to fight inflammation - fatigue, headaches, nausea and a temporarily lowered immune system - but they’re all part of the journey. If I’m a little quieter than usual, that’s why.

One thing MS has taught me is never to take movement for granted. Every class I teach, every walk, every workout, every moment in the studio is something I’m thankful for.

To everyone who’s supported PT Pilates over the years - whether you’ve attended a class, trained with us, cheered us on or simply followed our journey - thank you. Your support means more than you know.

Here’s to another year of movement, strength and making the most of every day. 🩵

Some moments just remind you why you do what you do. 🩵

Lindsey was one of my very first Pilates clients. Not long afterwards, Vicky joined us, and I paired them together to share Reformer sessions.

Life moved on. Vicky took time away to have her beautiful daughter, while Lindsey followed her passion, completed her teacher training, and came back to teach here at PT Pilates. Together, we then opened our second studio.

Then Vicky decided she wanted to follow the same path. She completed her PT Pilates Reformer Teacher Training, and today she taught her first two classes as part of our charity ‘Introduction to Reformer’ course.

From clients, to training, to inspiring others - this is exactly why I love what I do. Seeing people discover a passion, grow in confidence, and achieve something they once never imagined is incredibly special.

I’m so proud of both of you. Here’s to the next chapter and to inspiring even more people to believe in themselves. 🩵

What to Expect in Our Equipment Classes Starting: Monday August 3rd – Station 1: The Ladder Barrel

Over the next few days, we’re giving you a sneak peek at what to expect in our new Equipment Classes.

Station 1: The Ladder Barrel.

This incredible piece of equipment is designed to improve spinal mobility, flexibility and core strength. In this class we’ll be exploring bridging, hamstring and piriformis stretches, thigh and adductor stretches, before finishing with side sit-ups to really wake up the obliques.

I loved filming these exercises, and I can’t wait to start teaching them from next week! 🩵

Sunset drinks in Corfu … and I had to smile when I saw the choice of crisps Two Farmers 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

There’s something really nice about seeing a brilliant local producer from home making its way to places like this. Safe to say they made the perfect accompaniment to a sunset drink overlooking the sea.
