Dear judoka and parents,

As you would expect we have been closely monitoring the situation with coronavirus over the past few weeks. We have been following advice given by the government, Sport England and the British Judo Association.

As a club we are always reluctant to stop training whatever the situation but given the current advice and the close contact within our sport we have taken the decision to stop training with immediate affect.

We know that people will be disappointed by this but the health and well being of our members has to take priority. Additionally, if anyone tests positive for COVID-19 and has recently been in contact with other members, please contact us.

We are unsure how long this will be for, however we will continue to monitor the current situation and will update you whenever we have information by email and social media.

Thank you for your support and understanding through these uncertain times.

We are confirmed as running Judo demonstrations at the Leighfield Fete tomorrow. This is a great opportunity to show off our skills and recruit new members to the club. Can all lads be at the fete for 1200hrs in full judo gear. I will pick Tommy and Freddy up at about 1145hrs (let me know if they don't need a lift?). Toby and Jack have also said they are coming. Myself and Giles will be collecting mats and setting up prior to start time. Let me know if you cant make it? We do have a wet weather plan. Cheers Ric

No Judo tonight (7th November) as the work was not completed in time to move the mats back in last night.

Great first session after the summer holiday. Well done everyone for the big effort you put in. It was amazing to see everyone working hard and sweating.

The summer has come to an end, all the blockbuster movies have been and gone (Christopher Robin, Mamma Mia, Incredibles) and as the kids have now returned to school we start to see the long dark nights drawing in. They’ve even started selling advent calendars in shops. What have we got left to look forward to I hear you all cry.

Well, I am delighted to tell you all Judo sessions start up again tonight. I know, I know, it’s like Christmas has come early!!

Yes it’s time for the kids to come and work off all the excess energy that has built up over the summer and recommit to a program of exercise, discipline and healthy living. OK maybe, perhaps only a bit of exercise with some discipline rolled in then.

This term I’ll be encouraging everyone to try to bring a new recruit to a session over the coming weeks. The more members we have on the mat the more fun we can have wearing heavyweight pyjamas!

Arrive for 6:15 to put the mats out please.

Happy New Year to all!!

We start our campaign for all becoming better Judoka in 2018 at 6:15pm this evening.

Looking forward to seeing you there to start by working off some of the chocolates that have been consumed for two weeks.

Congratulations to everyone who attended the Grading at Vale Judo Club today.

Another 100% pass rate!

I’m proud of everyone and of all the hard work that has been put it.

It was also commented today that the standard of all of the members from Uppingham was very high.

You have all done very well.

Extra congratulations to Charlie Ellis and Tess Ellis who both achieved their Yellow belts.

Everyone deserves to go and celebrate.
