🌊 Water Safety Week 🌊

Today marked the end of a fantastic Water Safety Week! This morning, Lynette and Sallie visited Catmose Primary School, and this afternoon, Lynette and Jude visited St Mary and St John Primary School to deliver water safety assemblies.

It has been a great week visiting local schools and sharing important water safety messages with so many children. We hope all the pupils have enjoyed the sessions and, most importantly, have learnt valuable lessons about staying safe in and around water.

A huge thank you to all the schools for welcoming us – together, we can help keep our communities safe. 💙

💦 Water Safety Week 💦

This morning, Lynette and Sallie visited Leighfield Primary School to deliver an engaging water safety assembly to pupils.

The session covered important water safety messages, helping children understand how to stay safe in and around water, recognise potential dangers, and know what to do in an emergency.

A big thank you to the staff and pupils at Leighfield Primary School for their warm welcome and excellent participation. By educating young people about water safety, we can help prevent accidents and keep our communities safer.

🌊 Drowning Prevention Week

Did you know that 48% of accidental drownings happen between June and August?

☀️ Warm weather. 🌊 Cold water. ⚠️ Real danger.

If you fall into the water or get into difficulty:
✅ Stay calm
✅ Float on your back
✅ Call for help

If you see someone struggling:
⚽ Throw something that floats, such as a football or life ring
📞 Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you're at the coast
❌ Never enter the water to attempt a rescue

A simple action could save a life. Help spread the message and stay safe around water this summer.

🏊‍♀️ May Swimmer of the Month 🏊‍♀️

A huge congratulations to Antonia, who has been selected as our May Swimmer of the Month!

Antonia has been chosen for this award because of the fantastic effort and determination she has shown in her lessons over the past few weeks. She has really pushed herself in the pool and made excellent progress with her swimming.

Her hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to improving have been wonderful to see, and Jude her swim teacher has been especially impressed with the progress she has made recently.

🌟 Well done, Antonia! Keep up the fantastic work – we're all very proud of you! 🌟

🏊‍♀️ This Week at Swim School: Breaststroke Focus! 🏊‍♂️

At our swim school, we dedicate time each week to developing a different swimming stroke, helping our swimmers build strong technique and confidence across all four competitive strokes.

✅ Last week: Front Crawl
✅ This week: Breaststroke
➡️ Next week: Backstroke
➡️ Following week: Butterfly

This week's lessons will focus on improving breaststroke technique, including body position, timing, kick efficiency, and coordination between the arms and legs.

🌟 Top Breaststroke Tips

💧 Master the kick – Keep your heels close to your body, turn your feet out, and sweep your legs around in a smooth circular motion.

💧 Glide between strokes – Breaststroke is all about efficiency. After each kick, streamline and glide before starting the next stroke.

💧 Keep your head steady – Lift your head just enough to breathe, then return it to a neutral position to maintain a smooth body line.

💧 Timing is key – Remember: Pull → Breathe → Kick → Glide. Good timing helps swimmers move through the water with less effort.

💧 Stay streamlined – Stretch your arms forward after each stroke and keep your body long and narrow in the water.

We can't wait to see our swimmers practicing their breaststroke skills this week and continuing their progress through all four strokes over the coming weeks! 🌊🏅

🚨💦 Drowning Prevention Week is coming! 💦🚨

Throughout June, we're proud to be supporting RLSS Drowning Prevention Week and helping our community learn essential water safety and lifesaving skills.

Here's what's happening during the week commencing 15th June:

🏊 Our Swim School swimmers will take part in fun water safety activities during their lessons and will receive a certificate for taking part.

🏫 Lynette and Sallie, two of our swim teachers, will be visiting local schools to deliver water safety assemblies. Keep an eye out for us at your school!

❤️ Our lifeguards will be demonstrating CPR and teaching why these lifesaving skills are so important. You'll even have the chance to have a go yourself!

Together, we can help make everyone safer in and around water this summer. 🌊
