Background

My name is Mark, I'm 26 and from West Wales, Aberystwyth. My Dad Colin Purslow has raced for fun since I can remember so I have grown up around the racing scene my whole life. I always look up to him and this inspired me to give it a go as a privateer around work. I took the plunge in 2015 to try proper road racing in the Isle of Man. With some circuit experience and

a bike built by myself and my Dad I dove headfirst in to learning the Isle of Man mountain course which was awesome!

2015 Lightweight race win

To my surprise I won the lightweight race on the CBR 400 Honda. Being a newcomer to one of the most famous and known to be dangerous racing circuits in the World, winning was above all of my expectations - especially as the lightweight race contained some fantastic and experienced MGP riders. However, the hard work and effort certainly paid off with the following results:

- Lightweight MGP 2015 race
- Pam Cannell Trophy for fastest lap of the race 108.180 MPH
- Philip Hayhurst trophy for Best Newcomer

What's next?
==========

I'm getting ready to embark on the Isle of Man again this year and it really is a big year for me running 3 bikes with the help of my dad, family and friends. I will be in the Bennetts Senior Classic TT on Saturday the 24th, then it’s the Locate.im Junior Classic TT Race on the 26th and the lightweight Manx Grand Prix on the 28th August. It has been a really exciting time with me having a good go at Armoy in Ireland - my first time there was awesome! The people were amazing, the atmosphere was electric and I loved the fast racing! Tonfanau was a fun one and as usual Aberdare is always a good laugh . I'm really hoping the bikes will do me well at the upcoming Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix - feel like I am going back to where it all began making my debut win at the MGP as a newcomer in 2015.

Aberdare Road Races: 4 wins, 4 fastest laps

Will do my best to update everyone as much as possible and take you on my road racing journey. After all I couldn't have got this far without you!

Thank you to everyone who came out for Mark's ride out yesterday was a fantastic turn out and day! Posting photos first and underneath I'll comment with videos as FB won't let me post both together on the race page! Thank you for the lovely stones that were created for Mark, to all the riders who came, Ken Huntley for organising and also those sent nice messages! After the ride out we had a BBQ, raised a few toasts and painted some rocks in honour of Mark! 💙🍻🙏

REMINDER TOMORROW: MARK'S MEMORIAL RIDE OUT is taking place at 10am starting at Aberystwyth council offices! Looking forward to seeing you all there looks like it will be a lovely sunny day!

Route: Aberystwyth council offices, go through Lampeter, Tregaron, Bont, Devils Bridge and then left to have lunch at the Halfway! 💙

Notice from Halfway: They want us to enter via the car park entrance and not by the PUB. Its an insurance thing riding through the seating area. Sorry for this so TAKE CARE ENTERING THE CARPARK IT IS GRAVEL / thanks Ken Huntley for the update!

If anyone wants to paint a stone and bring this for Mark we are more than happy to distribute them and share them online for all to see. Or if you want to share in your own special place send us photos we would love to see! We have been sharing stones in his memory...both serious and fun ones! We took Mark's M stone to Chicago and it's now in the Michigan river! Will post an album when we get time of all the different stones we have created and where we have left them for Mark!

So lovely for Susan Alker to go and visit Mark's plaque this year again in the IOM! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos Susan and amazing you purchased our mum's bike before we lost Mark...a small world! I'm sure Mark was smiling down at you when you were there! 😁💙

The route will start at the usual place at Aberystwyth council offices, go through Lampeter, Tregaron, Bont, Devils Bridge and then left to have lunch at the Halfway! Hope you can join us!

The first rock has been placed! A tree under a tree...with lovely views opposite over Caerleon! Not sure how long it will last but nice to put it out for Mark! 💙🪨

Not sure how it's been 3 years already today? It still doesn't feel real and we all can't believe it... it's like it all happened yesterday! We miss and love you so much Mark! As a family we have all celebrated you in different ways and will continue to do so forever! Here are some rocks we painted that we can leave in locations on our walks, trips and holidays away so that others can remember you, say your name and keep your legacy living on! Have got lots more rocks to paint (don't judge the beginner painters) 😂😂. Mam and dad went to Cenarth falls today for a day out, Nia came back from a trip to Liverpool and me (Hana) and Jess went to watch the new Mission Impossible film for you in the cinema! You would have thought it was awesome! There is so much love for you online and in person...as long as we live you will be remembered always! 💙💙💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us today for Mark's memorial ride out! It was so touching to see you all there for Mark and we hope you all enjoyed! The weather was great and the new route was also nice! Thanks so much to Ken Huntley for great organising once again and to all the police who came this time to stop traffic and get everyone out together. Here are some videos from the day...we started in Aberystwyth with more bikes joining along the way and had a nice pit stop at the Two Hoots...we were grateful they put on extra staff for us! Also a big thanks to those who have sent photos and videos keep them coming! If anyone didn't get a postcard we have a few left over so let Col or Gwen know. 💙🙏
