Captured on the way down from the crag, just after making the first ascent of Adrenaline (E7 6c) on the East Buttress. Great days!! 😁

Today was a climbing mileage day, which basically means doing as much climbing as possible in the 25 -75% effort range.

This type of climbing is supposed to be enjoyable and likely to take place over several hours. It should also really involve at least one rest period for tea/coffee and sandwiches/cake!

The question of what climbing shoe to wear for these ‘high volume’ days is a real decision. You want something that is minimal fuss, that doesn’t need to come on/off every route as your feet are hurting. But you also want something that will perform well across your intended climbing grade range.

Up until January this year, I didn’t believe that there was a climbing shoe that ticked all these boxes, but I was wrong. The Veloce is a master of all day performance. They are incredibly supple allowing your feet to feel exactly what they are standing on (a treat on most indoor holds) and there is no pressure applied to the toes, so you’re never in discomfort when climbing (or belaying).

Certainly worth trying out!! 👌

Having taken receipt of a lovely pair of Furia S yesterday I was keen to climb in these shoes today 😁.

With heavy rain forecast in the Lakes, was the default venue to try these new shoes out👌.

I was particularly interested to see how the Furia S would compare to my Chimaera, which I’ve really enjoyed climbing in this past year.
I opted for a size 41 in the Furia S, which is the same size I’ve taken across all the Scarpa range. (I’m a 42 street shoe for reference). The Furia S is designed to be a snug fit so it’s a bit a battle to get them on initially 🤬, but with a bit of perseverance you are rewarded! 😀

The Furia S are incredibly sensitive and ideal for use on dual texture indoor holds where very precise footwork is needed. The fit is even more glove like than the Chimaera and I was impressed that there were no pressure points on my toes even straight out of the box! 😍

Worth putting on your Xmas list!! 👍

😢 Oh no, my trusty Chimera’s have worn through! 😭

(But don’t despair, as have developed a network of trusted UK partners who can resole your favourite shoes 😃).

See Scarpa’s website for more details on their resole service👍

Nice to get back to repeating the ‘8c’ pinks tonight😁
