As a women living with PMOS, and a practitioner working with women navigating it every day I’m so relieved see it properly addressed for its hormonal and metabolic impact!
It has been far too long that young women have been handed a pill and told to come back when they want children. That was my experience. and not only is this advice unhelpful (more on this to come!!), it’s also neglectful.
Women with PMOS are more prone to hormonal shifts, weight gain, skin issues and mental health challenges and there is so much that can be done to support us, (very importantly through strength training, nutritional support), but unless these women can find and afford specialist holistic intervention they have been left feeling confused and quite frankly unwell. Hopefully this new name and research can help the medical community to provide earlier intervention for the masses, better access to support, and care that treats the whole person!
So in my opinion this is a good step in the right direction for women’s health! 🙌🏻
