A cat shark [morgi] cruising through one of my favourite little cut-throughs in the reef, weaving between the kelp and rocks. 🌿🦈

This curious individual came incredibly close to check us out before disappearing back into the maze of gullies. Encounters like this are what make every dive special.

Fun fact: Cat sharks lay distinctive egg cases known as “mermaid’s purses”, which are often washed up on beaches around the UK. The embryos can take many months to develop before hatching into perfectly formed miniature sharks.

Who else loves these underrated little sharks? 💙

Never thought I’d say this, but at the moment there’s a very good chance we’ll see an octopus on almost every dive. 🐙

These underwater aliens are hands down one of the coolest creatures to encounter beneath the waves. 👽🌊

Blue jellyfish are definitely back in numbers around Cornwall! 🪼

We can also officially confirm that getting stung across the lips above your regulator hurts...

For scientific accuracy, this was tested twice. 🤦‍♂️😂

The good news? The visibility is good, the marine life is thriving, and the underwater world is looking incredible right now.

Meet our latest “flat-out fabulous” find: possibly a Plaice [leythen rudh]… but probably a Flounder [leyth dhu].

We hope Plaice because of those distinctive orange spots and that slimmer “wrist” at the tail — but honestly, these two love to keep us guessing. Flatfish ID can be tricky when they’re this similar, I mean just look at how similar the Kernewek names are, and that’s half the fun of diving Cornwall: you never stop learning.

Spider crabs [Gaverik] are absolutely everywhere in the shallows at the moment — and this one couldn’t have cared less that I was filming. Just stood their ground like they owned the place.

Look closely at their right claw too… they’re carrying an anemone [pednvagas] around like a built-in bodyguard. Cornwall’s underwater world never gets old.

Summer’s on its way in Cornwall and you can *feel* the sea waking up. The nursery grounds are filling with baby fish, and the seaweed forests are springing back into life—fresh and full of movement.

If you’ve been waiting for that “okay, it’s time to get in the water” moment… this is it.

Mesmerised by this little colour-shifter.

Cuttlefish [padel ynken] are basically underwater magicians—changing colour, pattern and texture in seconds as they cruise the reef. Keep your eyes peeled and you’ll spot them hovering low over the sand, flashing signals like a living neon sign.

Swimming through Cornwall’s rocky swim-throughs in spring is THE sweet spot. The kelp’s just starting to come back to life, but the rocks are still beautifully exposed—so you can glide through the gaps with loads of space and get those unreal, cathedral-like scenes as the light cuts in.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get in early-season diving… this is it.

This catshark [morgi] was the definition of unbothered.
Spotted this little legend chilling on the sand, totally calm, and happy to let me drift by and film for a moment.
