Sgurr a Choire-bheithe 15-06-26 - Another trip into the wilds of Knoydart to climb this 900m+ Corbett. It was made much easier by getting a boat (Peter Fletcher) across from Arnisdale coupled with local accommodation and great weather. Joined today by a couple of fellow Angus based Corbett baggers Ian and Brian. The boat trip takes around 10-15mins which shaves off a 4 hour each way walk in/out from Kinloch Hourn. We got dropped off a 9am at Barrisdale Bay jetty and had arranged a 4pm pick up which gave us a bit of a margin to get the hill done. The going is straightforward although pretty pathless, once on the ridge we climbed steadily to the summit. Brilliant views everywhere out to Skye , Rum and East to Lochaber. Descended back down and had a break inside the bothy at Barrisdale which we all last visited over 30 years ago. A bit of a milestone today Corbett number 200 for me and a first Knoydart hill for Buster.

Beinn an Aodainn (Ben Aden) 15-05-26 - Doing this remote mountain has involved a lot of chat and planning over the past few weeks. Firstly agreeing a timeframe, secondly hopefully getting some good weather and thirdly how to tackle it. We decided on a Kayak-climb-camp option which would save a massive hike and carrying a huge pack. No Buster on this expedition but was joined by GP and thanks to him for all the driving and sorting Kayaks. A bit of logistics in getting there as the Kinlochhourn road was closed for works after 0830, luckily got a parking space and more importantly a launch for the kayaks SW of the Glen Quoich road bridge. The forecast was showers then clearing but it was very cold with a bit of a headwind paddling West along Loch Cuaich. We set up camp near the Dams at the West end of the Loch and after getting ourselves sorted headed up Ben Aden. This is a very rough and rugged mountain and we ascended via the rocky East ridge. Snow was still lying on neighbouring Sgurr na Ciche and although clear it was chilly for May. The views from the top were spectacular all round. Interestingly we found a pair of boots placed in the cairn, no doubt there would be a story attached to that. Retraced back down to the campsite for some food and rest. The night sky cleared brilliantly and it seemed it hardly got dark. Up in the morning and repacked for our paddle back including a stop along the shore for some food. Another very remote mountain done and thanks to GP for his company.

Sgurr na Ba Glaise and An Stac 29-04-26 - A return trip to the Rois-Bheinn area to complete this West coast classic. Was joined by GP today who has spent many years climbing and Kayaking in this area. This has been on my radar for a while and really wanted to have a perfect day a possible for doing it. Worth saying that these hills and rough and steep with lots of ascent and decent in between. Started near Inverailort House from there headed steeply up to a Lochan near Beinn Coire nan Gail. From there the ridge winds around over a few tops before finally reaching the summit of Sgurr na Ba Glaise. We omitted Rois-Bheinn as I had climbed it a few months ago and instead headed steeply down to a 559m col to the South of An Stac. The ascent from there to the summit of An Stac is steep and was really warm on a day like this. The descent back to the car was pretty good although steep and short. This is a big day in the West especially driving from our side of the country. The views , well pretty much as good as it gets.

Beinn na Cille - Fuar Bheinn - Creach Bheinn 18-04-26 - A Graham and 2 Corbetts in the Ardgour area. These hills are collectively called the Glen Galmadale circuit which to the West of Loch Linnhe. This is a long day from home so booked overnight accommodation afterwards. A very early drive got us to the Corran ferry around 730am , once on the other side it was around 45 mins to the days starting point at Glen Galmadale. It was heavy rain as I drove across so started with full waterproofs. The ascent of Beinn na Cille starts very steep but it's a reasonably quick hill to get to and luckily stayed dry and this top was clear. There are big drops between all these hills with the ascent of Fuar Bheinn taking a while. We didn't hang about on top as was windy and cloudy but cleared as we descended down. The ascent of Creach Bheinn was pretty straightforward where a big stone circle marks the top. Just down from the summit there are remains of a "Colby camp" which were used as shelters during the initial 19th century OS surveys. Very soon after leaving the summit it started to clear and stopped at the cairn of Meall Odhar where there is a memorial to a US military air crash back in 1964. Pieces of wreckage are still on the hill ! Although very windy the going back down was good and the views brilliant. All in all a good day in the Wild West.

Carn Ealasaid 13-04-26 - A trip to Donside and a Corbett I hadn't been up for well over 30 years. The last time I was up here came in from the Lecht Ski centre and also included the neighbouring Carn Mor. Todays route started from the Corgarff Castle car park where the route follows a good landrover track all the way to the top. Still pretty chilly for April where the freezing level was around 700m . Good views all round where the Cairngorms and Lochnagar still have major snow cover. A 100th Corbett for Buster today ! He's getting pretty near his predecessor (Sam) mountain tally.

Well this lad has reached a wee milestone today ! His 100th Corbett (Mountain between 2500ft - 3000ft).

Beinn Leoid 26-03-26 - Another far North Corbett done on a day which actually turned out better than I first thought. This hill is just South of the Lairg - Laxford Bridge road where Janey had decided to sit it out in the car (for a wee while) while I pushed on. It had snowed overnight down to around 300m and light snow was forecast for the day. There is a good stalkers path up to 450m and my intended route was to flank the neighbouring hill Meallan a Chuail and join another track that heads to the Corbett. The snow wasn't the best and flanking is never a good move on ground like this but it was the most direct route however the final slope up to the summit seemed a long slog in 6" of new snow. The summit is marked by a trig point and luckily managed to stay clear for some views. The biggest surprise was a School group arriving at the top when I was just leaving. They were out on a Winter skills trip led by an instructor , I chatted for a while whilst the kids took photos of Buster. I'm still amazed on a day like this in Winter in the middle of nowhere people were out. Descended back the same way and Janey had come up as far as the end of the stalkers path. A good couple of days out despite the forecast. The next day did a very short walk to Ardvreck Castle on Loch Assynt which was pretty windy , but good to see Highland Council have invested in some new parking and path there.
