Graythwaite Adventure (formerly CBA Events @ Graythwaite) provides award winning outdoor adventure experiences on Graythwaite Estate; 5,000 acres of carefully managed estate land, woodland, parkland and lake frontage on the western sh

ore of Windermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Guests can enjoy 4x4 off road driving on the challenging course that takes you to some of the most remote areas on the estate with majestic views. Clay pigeon shooting, archery and axe throwing are enjoyed at our shooting site whilst bushcraft experiences are held in the ancient woodland. Grubbins Point, a calm and secluded bay, is where we run watersports from April to October; choose from paddleboards, kayaks or canoes or you may opt for a boat tour on our 10 seater RIB boat. We’ve designed and built the Lake District’s only purpose-built off-road course with BORDA (British Off Road Driving Association) accreditation and BORDA qualified instructors providing expert tuition. Our shooting site provides the perfect place to learn and practice skills, with drinks and snacks served from the lodge and a roaring fire pit. Tim and Sara have been designing, organising and delivering activities, events and experiences worldwide since the 1990’s and have now firmly settled where they both grew up, in the English Lake District. Rewind five years ago this week and we’re midway through an 8-week Netflix project. Long days, blue sky, and back to back fun and games. Here we are, prepping for the contestants’ arrival. They had no idea what they were letting themselves in for. 😬

Months of planning, and once onsite we built and delivered the tasks, ran errands, managed crew travel logistics and catering.

The estate provided an ideal location and backdrop, away from it all - perfect for the brief.

Netflix’s words, not ours. ‘Welcome to Snowflake Mountain. A place where ragtag stuck at home snowflakes with zero life skills have to step up to the plate. Built as a wilderness boot camp, our snowflakes will compete to see who has what it takes, competing for a life-changing prize and the chance to kickstart their life and liberate their parents.’

With lovely people on a , at Silverholme, in the sunshine you know it’s going to be a good day. Add breakfast burritos and ginger shots to the welcome and it gets even better.

We shared some of the Estate’s rich history and its grounds this week on two guided walks taking us along the lake shore to Grubbins Point with fine views up and down the lake, on woodland paths with bluebells and through the park surrounding Graythwaite Hall.

Teams competed in axe throwing mid-way; a chance to learn something new and expose hidden talents.

Most importantly it brought colleagues together, away from the usual workplace and distractions, to connect, relax and embrace a different environment.

No visit to the Lakes is complete without some time on the water. Our boat tours typically start from Graythwaite Estate’s private bay before heading north up to Belle Isle, Windermere’s largest island, in Bowness.

The Windermere Ferry has operated for over 500 years; originally rowing boats transported passengers, horses and goods but now a cable ferry with space for up to 18 cars operates.

Storrs Temple, officially known as the Temple of Heroes, is a Georgian folly commemorating four naval heroes of the Napoleonic Wars, designed as a viewing point for watching sailing regattas.

Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club founded in 1925 is the oldest motor boat racing club in the world, based at Broad Leys, an historic Arts & Crafts building.

As if the private houses aren’t impressive enough from the road, wait until you see them from the water. With stunning architecture, long landscaped gardens and the sweetest of boat houses, we can but dream.

Our private, skippered, 1-hour tours are available until the end of the summer. Hop on board our 9-passenger seat RIB and allow us to show off some of Windermere’s gems.
