Please support my K2B Walk
For those of you who know me, you will be aware that I turned 50 just before Christmas and have become officially old! (the body creaks in a morning)
When I turned 40 (and following an operation on a snapped achilles), I decided to set myself a goal outside my safety bubble, so went out and bought a new bike, trained hard and undertook the Fred Whitton challenge. (only ever done it once)
This year, having turned 50 and been through an Inguinal Hernia operation in the past 2 years, I have decided to do something similar. Rather than undertake a cycling challenge, I have decided to take on the mammoth Keswick to Barrow Walk for the very first time! The K2B fills me with dread… I just don't get why anyone would want to walk 40 miles in a day and I must admit that I am apprehensive about doing it! However, as a proud Barrovian I believe that the Keswick to Barrow should be done at least once and this is the year when I plan to get my K2B badge.
I'm not telling you all this as I want kudus or a slap on the back… I am doing the event for two reasons:
1. To challenge myself.
and the important bit…
2. To support a charity as part of a BAE Systems' team organised by Amie Small called the 'The Long Haul Legends'
Our team will be walking in memory of a little local girl called Aria who sadly passed away last year at the age of 18 months from a rare and life-limiting disease. Our team are raising funds for the charity: www.thelilyfoundation.org.uk/ and we will be showing our support of little Aria and her parents who lost their little Angel too soon. For more details on Aria's story, please check Facebook for her page: Team AriBoo WARNING: You may shed a tear!
Please support my K2B walk and this worthwhile charity by donating ANY amount here: https://keswick2barrow.co.uk/donate/256592?cid2=256592
