Another cracking day chasing high birds at Graythwaite Estate!

Towering pheasants lifting from the high banks and sweeping across the deep valley bottoms made for some truly memorable shooting. Four drives, over 3,000 clays, and plenty of hot barrels later, we were left with an exceptionally happy group of guns already looking forward to returning with us in August.

All set in the stunning surroundings of the Lake District, the day was rounded off perfectly with a lakeside lunch on the terrace at the Boathouse Cafe.

// INTRODUCTION TO STALKING

We recently delivered our first introduction to stalking here at Graythwaite.

What is included in our introduction to stalking day?

🌿Starting with a few hours theory and learning.
🌿With the knowledge from the classroom it’s time to get out on the target session, where you will learn how to execute the appropriate shot placement to minimise the suffering to the animal.
🌿Once you have mastered the target, you will head out on a simulated stalk. Here you will learn how to gage the distance of 100m and the basics of prone position shooting.
🌿Now for the fun part, once your instructor is happy with the above you will be taken out on a real stalk.

On this occasion it is unfortunate that the stalk at the end of the day did not result with a shot. However, the client was exceptionally happy with the day and has since booked a morning stalk, where they will continue on the path towards a DSC Level 1.

// IT'S IN THE BLOOD

Aside from our Roe Buck Stalking and Simulated Game Shooting. There is a lot of preparations going on behind the scenes for our upcoming seasons ahead.

A lot of credit goes out to our head gamekeeper .campbell1 who is absolutely smashing the preparations.

He is being assisted here by one of his young sons, who is no doubt keeping an eye on him - gamekeeping clearly runs in the blood!

We will let you know about what else is coming up soon, in the meantime, we have opened up a number of dates available for Roe Buck Stalking and Simulated Shoot Days.
