So yesterday was the first game day back - A few hiccups through out the day but all in all a good day.
22 min into the first game I came to the realisation I can’t wear my rig at the mo - so some pain killers and move some pouches to the belt and I was good to go - at a slower pace (I really need to work on core and cardio 🤣) A good chat with the marshals at the end of the day and hopefully some exciting days round the corner.
A very proud dad moment watching my boy get stuck in.

Now a little rant / concern - a group of players yesterday kind of held half the day to ransom. They played how they wanted and didn’t really care about other players or if they hurt anyone - they weren’t taking hits and not playing in the spirit of the game (you know it’s bad when people on the same side were moaning about them). Now they were dealt with and sent packing (for me it took a little to long - but after talking to a marshal there were some reasons - mainly communication between the staff) all in all we had a good day. The Marshals were happy to listen to ideas about tweaking games (I mean they could have just been appeasing the out of shape 40 year old but that’s their right 🤣) Massive thanks to Ironsight Airsoft for the day - will defo be booking in again

Whilst I have all your attention - (this is an edit and prob should have been a separate post - from here down is no reflection on yesterday - I was on a typing role and went for it)

Now this bit isn’t about yesterday or any site in particular- the issue seems to be all over IMHO

Over the past few years I’ve tried to play when I can whilst I had been waiting for surgery. And it seems that to a certain degree - site owners have kind of lost control of the sites (I understand Lockdown would have financially beaten the snot out of sites and airsoft in general and we are lucky to still have as many sites still open as we do). I’ve seen a lot of posts about non hit taking (I saw a post from a site owner a month or so a go apologising that it had been ANOTHER bad day)/ over kill and various other issues that should be stamped out. In my experience marshalling/ running days and being involved in running events 90% of time it’s regulars that cause the issues (not all regulars) - if a site is having constant issues with hit taking / spamming triggers etc - it’s not rentals, groups trying your site or even the people who come every couple of months it’s your regulars who unfortunately are driving business away from you. I ask any site owners/ marshals and organisers, please take back control. Start dealing with these issues early in the day - I promise it won’t take long till the issues stop. Once players realise you won’t put up with it they will stop or move on and you will get the kind of days we’re every one has fun and you’ll have more time to think of new games etc. plus it will make your jobs more fun.

Small update - Back surgery went well and I am on the road to recovery. Looking forward to getting back out and playing.

A big Thankyou to Paul Dunford and the team at Ironsight airsoft for letting me put the Marshall boots on for a day whilst my son played - and for letting me book split days playing/marshalling whilst I get on with the physio and rehab 👍

And a thanks to Jenni and Kirk at Airsoft Anonymous for not telling me to get out when I was hovering around the shop like a lost puppy

A day out at SCCQB - the first time I’ve been able to shoot in over a year. Great to see some people I’ve not seen in a while - finally got to meet the progressive dynamics guys (well worth a follow if you don’t already).

Honesty time - I don’t have great things to say about the day. I can’t figure out if the games changed or I’m just old and had enough (which is worrying).

We are off to IronSight on the 24th (my son gets his first airsoft experience) and hope to see some friends there too

So it’s been a while - 9 months since we posted anything. A lot has happened in this time within the team - a couple of house moves, change of jobs, kids on the way, a great big shed being built. For myself dealing with injury/ growing old. In 2018 I pr*****ed a disc in my back (not something I would recommend) for a year I tried to play (last time was jan 20 2019) with not much success - other than a lot of pain and frustration that I simply couldn’t do what I had always done. With that being said a few weeks ago the amazing NHS stuck some needles in me to at least give me the chance to get back to the things I love doing. Our first outing will be 11/10 at South coast CQB - if your there it would be nice to say hi to some old faces - if your not I’m sure we will be seeing you soon.
