What if the workout isn’t the best part?

Maybe it’s all the things that come with it.

The friendships (because making friends as an adult can be surprisingly hard).

The conversations (because sometimes moving side by side makes it easier to open up).

The confidence (because believing in yourself can lead to new hobbies, new challenges and opportunities you might have once talked yourself out of).

The places it takes you (because a race entry can become a weekend away, a new city or an adventure with friends).

The fresh air (because we all spend enough time indoors).

The memories (because those are the things we remember long after the workout is done).

It’s easy to focus on pace, PBs and performance. But sometimes the best things movement gives us have nothing to do with fitness ✨

Too hot to turn the oven on? ☀️

Here’s my no-bake Dark Chocolate Cookie Dough Crunch Bar.

Soft cookie dough, a crunchy Rice Krispie topping and dark chocolate. Straight into the fridge and perfect with a coffee 👌🏽

I’ve been enjoying making more treats from simple ingredients lately. Nothing complicated, just things I can throw together at home, know exactly what’s in them and have ready when I fancy something sweet.

Ingredients

• 200g oats
• 50g flaked almonds
• 60g almond butter
• 60g maple syrup
• 1½ tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of sea salt

Topping

• 150g Rice Krispies
• 200g dark chocolate
• 1 tbsp coconut oil

Method
1. Blend the oats and flaked almonds until they resemble a coarse flour.
2. Add the almond butter, maple syrup, vanilla and sea salt, then blend until a cookie dough forms.
3. Press firmly into a lined loaf tin.
4. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil together, then stir through the Rice Krispies.
5. Spread over the cookie dough layer and gently press down.
6. Chill in the fridge until set. Mine took around an hour.
7. Slice up and enjoy.

A little note: I used 150g of Rice Krispies because I love a crunch. If you’d prefer a slightly softer topping, I’d start with around 120g.

Perfect as a pre-workout snack or alongside an afternoon coffee ☕️🤍

I have a feeling this may be the first of many cookie dough-inspired creations.

If the gym feels a bit overwhelming, this is a really simple way to get started 👇

You can stay in one spot, take your time and not worry about moving around.

One bench, two sets of dumbbells and you’ve got a full upper body session.

Quick cues for each exercise:

Chest press
Slow on the way down, press up strong, exhale as you push.

Row
Pull towards your hip and squeeze your back at the top.

Shoulder press
Set the bench upright, keep your core tight, press steadily overhead.

Hammer curls
Keep your elbows in and avoid swinging the weight.

Seated lateral raises
Use a lighter weight and lift with control to shoulder height.

Seated tricep extensions
Keep your elbows in and lower the weight slowly behind your head.

Take your time with it, no need to rush.

2 to 3 sets of each, around 8 to 10 reps.

Save this for your next session - you’ve got this 🤍

Sometimes just doing a workout that consists of your favourite exercises is enough 🤝🏽✨
