Yesterday we watched Hayden and Matthew compete at the PDA Olympic Pathway Regatta, and what a fantastic day of racing it turned out to be.

Both boys delivered brilliant performances, with Hayden racing into the A Final of the U21 category and Matthew in J18.

We are proud to say they each came away with a bronze medal 🥉
A well earned result after some tough competition.

A great achievement for both of them 👏

Can you believe it's been a week since London? While watching the run up for today's race (Oxford v Cambridge) we are reflecting on our performance last week. We entered the race hoping to perform better than last year and we did exactly that!

We're so proud of our crew and their performance - if you missed it you can view a snippet of our race from YouTube below!

Let us know, who are you cheering for today - Oxford or Cambridge?

🚣‍♀️ Why a new 8 matters

An 8 can be one of the most exciting boats to row — eight rowers working together in perfect rhythm.

❓Do you know why it's called an Eight? Well, there are 8 rowers in the boat (and a Cox, to help steer the boat and to encourage the crew) but also because each rower will only have one blade (oar). If rowers have two blades each the boat is known as an oct. You will often see an Eight denoted as 8+ (8 rowers plus a cox) or 8x+ (the 'x' denotes two blades, crossed).

A new 8 will support the performance of our senior squad at races, while refurbishing our current boat will allow more members to gain experience rowing in a full crew.

As our membership continues to grow, having two usable 8s will make a huge difference to training opportunities across the club.

✨ A final thank you from us

As our fundraising efforts continue, we wanted to take a moment to recognise another organisation whose generosity has helped support our campaign.

A huge thank you to Rotary Sunderland City for their kind donation towards our fundraising for a new 8. Support like this makes a real difference to a volunteer-run club like ours and helps us continue providing opportunities for people in our community to get involved in rowing.

Every contribution — big or small — helps move us closer to our goal, and we’re incredibly grateful for the encouragement and support we’ve received along the way.

Thank you for helping us keep moving forward. 🚣‍♀️

❤️ And the next big thank you goes to… YOU!

Yes — you.

To all of our members, supporters, followers, friends, families (and even neighbours!) — you know who you are.

Thank you for every bit of support you’ve given along the way. Whether you’ve liked or shared a post, donated money, given your time, taken part in the challenge, donated items for the club to sell, baked food for events, or simply spread the word about what we’re trying to achieve — we truly appreciate it.

Community support like this is what keeps a club like ours going.

We may not have reached our fundraising target just yet… but with support like this behind us, we know we will. 🚣‍♀️

🚣‍♀️ A huge thank you!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our recent fundraising challenge to help us purchase a new 8 for the club.

Members from across the club came together to complete an incredible 1,442,600 metres on the erg, ski-erg and bike-erg — representing a journey from Sunderland to Henley, on to Paris, and back again!

A special thank you to Elevate Offshore for their generous donation and support of the challenge. Contributions like this make a huge difference to a community club like ours.

We're still fundraising towards our £10,000 goal to purchase a new 8 and refurbish our current one, helping more members experience rowing in a full crew boat.

Very magical session this morning for our seniors in the snow.
Plenty of layers are crucial in the winter, but we still enjoy a good paddle in the cold.
