Congratulations to Sue Terry FC on winning Summer League 2017.

A rocky start to the season was soon ironed out with the boys only dropping points against RoDonuts and Hob Nobs Athletic.

After taking 17 points from 14 games last year and finishing 5th, there might be a few offers coming in from the West Ham board regarding mamagement.

RoDonuts (3) v (5) Misfoots

After such an important win to keep their title chances alive, RoDonuts needed to continue to apply the pressure with another 3 points again Misfoots.

With Captain Charisma Gary 'Misfoots' Underhill missing, would his team crumble as they were clear underdogs based on league positioning.

RoDonuts started slowly and seemed flat and soon saw themselves 3 goals down within the first 10 minutes. With Zlatan only able to play the first half, it didn't look like the goals were going to come, which they inevitably didn't.

A few good saves from the makeshift goalkeepers of Misfoots and a couple of goals from M. Vichary with his left foot wand saw one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Their second win of the Tourney was a big result. Not sure if it was because Gary wasn't there? ;)

Sue Terry FC (14) - (2) FC N'Didi

With Freddie on Holiday and apparently De Gea stopping in with the Mrs, step in Captain Giles who stuck goalscorer Robbo in goal.....only to see themselves to a comfortable win for him and the boys.

The Sue Terry boys must have some good contacts as Gareth Bale returned early from pre season to bang a few goals and cause problems down the flanks all night.

Fair play to N'Didi who kept trying to push forwards throughout the game with a couple of nice nutmegs thrown in their but the game was won in the first half.

Thank you to the ST subs for helping the N'Didi boys out when they were 1 short.

Hob Nobs Athletic (0) v (3) St S***m

Due to HNA being unable to raise a side. St S***m take the 3 points.

Looks like the season could come down to one game between Sue Terry and St S***m. Cards at the ready!!!

Both remaining fixtures and the current league table will be updated on the Monday.

St S***m (8) v (9) RoDonuts

What a way to start the evening.... League leaders St S***m were full of confidence going into the match up but the loss of their regular keeper would make things interesting. RoDonuts were also lacking a full strength squad with the loss of Dan their captain marvel, who will sadly miss the rest of the season with a broken toe. The 1st half was a shock for the team at the top of the table as RoDonuts started quick and powered through on goal multiple times. The returning striker 'Zlatan' Michell caused all sorts of problems for St S***ms defence and newly recruited (or stand in...) goalkeeper Spenny. Going into half time RoDonuts were leading 7-3 and seemed to believe the giant killing was secure (Not quite). With the start of the second half St S***m found the form that has made them the league leaders, possession play and neatly placed passes caused RoDonuts problems who took their foot off the gas. Within 10 minutes St S***m achieved the comeback! With the score 7-7 you could argue the writing was on the wall for the dejected Rodonuts. A minute later St S***m scored to achieve the lead 8-7 with minutes remaining. They think its all over...... Not yet! With the work rate of RoDonuts and the two young midfielders, the belief was back. Zlatan struck a neatly placed strike to the bottom left corner to even it up once more at 8-8. To conclude the game a fatal error from St S***m gave RoDonuts a penalty in the dying minutes. Calm one step finish from Zlatan and it continues his 100% record of penalties. 9-8 to RoDonuts it finished. St S***m could not believe their fightback did not gain at least a point and will be hungry this week to get points back on the table. RoDonuts have gained confidence and once again it is a three horse race at the top with a single point separating Sue Terry, St S***m and RoDonuts. These next few weeks of fixtures will decide the championship!!!!

Hob Nobs Athletic (6) v (7) FC N'Didi

What started off as a very competitive match saw the West Cornwall players become unstuck with a hattrick from N'Didi captain Tom Alison. A very tidy volley from a tight angle was the highlight of the three and helped lead his team to another 3 points.Star goalkeeper for N'Didi also returned to help stop leaking goals at the other end and frustrated the Hob Nobs.

A short HNA saw the return of local club legend Mr Sam Kevern and the maestro behind the first teams success of Mendoc-Mouriniho but they were unable to provide the experience which was needed to secure the 3 points. a few tasty tackles between between the same two could have seen our first double sin bin of the season but in fairness, handbags weren't out.

Misfoots (1) v (5) Sue Terry FC

Unknowingly of the first result of the evening, Sue Terry knew they had to win this match to continue to apply the pressure. What started off as a nervous ST, they were unable to score and looked somewhat shaky at the back. Captain Freddie was placed in goal due to missing De Gea with what looked like gardening gloves (you went to Truro School boys....buy some goalie gloves!!). Some good double saves (which resulted in amazement from the subs) managed to keep the ex pupils infront when at some points they didn't deserve to be.

The scoreline of 5-1 was somewhat flattering towards the end with Misfoots offering more to the match than it seems. The boys are still looking to pick up their second win of the tournament.

Freddie and his merry rugby/football men take the lead in the championship race with only 3 weeks remaining.. It's all opened up!!!

Week 5

Hob Nobs Athletics (4) v (4) Sue Terry

With front runners Sue Terry looking to keep the pressure on favourites St S***m, a win tonight was vital for their campaign.

With supporters in tow for Terry and enhancing the atmosphere, what started off as a cagey affair turned into a competitive physical game with a few tasty tackles going flying in. Both teams hit the woodwork and the score should have been a lot higher if the chances created were taken - we'll give the keepers credit...!

Dawes was back on penalty duty to Kempy being away and was unable to convert from the spot (orange line) due to a good save from De Gea in goal. Monty took charge of the second penalty of the night and made sure he slotted it away.

Entering the last minute of the game, HNA keeper Bawden claims to have been 'wasting a bit of time' by hitting the corners... chips the ball over head height, resulting in a ST penno. With the clock ticking down, Sue Terry had the opportunity to clinch what would have been a hard fought 3 points. Step up Robbo who fancied himself against the HNA keeper. Last kick of the game, make sure you hit the target......smashes wide. Game over. Both teams taking their share of the points.

RoDonuts (9) v (6) FC N'Didi

Another upset could have potentially happened as N'Didi found themselves 2 goals to the good within the first 5 minutes. A couple of calm words from the Donuts during the restart and they found themselves back in the game within another 5.

A very physical game which has seen our first sin bin of Summer League which the Donuts took full advantage of. Controlling the tempo, and making that extra man count saw them take a cushion into the second half, as well as tiring some of the N'Didi players. A tactical decision for the second half by bringing the keeper out saw a set of fresh legs for N'Didi as they looked to get the scores back on level terms.

With N'Didi applying the pressure, a penalty was awarded for an outfield player touching the ball inside the box. The penalty was blasted down Pepe Reina's middle only for the ball to hit him, bounce off, and somehow end up in the back of the goal.

I've been informed that Mr Michell has scored back to back hatricks and 9 goals in 2 games, along with a 3/3 penalty conversion

St S***m (9) v (3) Misfoots

Looking at the table and you could only see this result going one way, which it did. St S***m dominant from the start and managed to grab themselves a goal within the first minute you could see this being a potential for double figures. Gary made some good saves to keep the score down but constant attacks meant he could only do so much.

Fair play to Misfoots who stuck at it, and I think....one of the younger ones almost broke Mr Jollys ankles with a couple of shimmies..... it certainly saw him hit the deck! Battle of Goliath and Goliath ensued throughout the match and was a good spectacle to watch until Misfoots Goliath went in goal for the second half and made some good saves, apart from the one that he ended up throwing into his own goal!

Dodgy distribution from the S***m goalkeeper saw the ball fall nicely to young man in red Adidas, who calmly slotted it into the far corner out of reach of the keeper. Unfortunately this wasn't enough to apply any sort of pressure and I believe even Spenny managed to get himself on the scoresheet this week?

A professional performance from St S***m saw them walk away with a comfortable 3 points and edging ever closer to the Summer League 2017 Title.

No fixtures on the 6th July, we return on the 13th.

Week 4 Review

The week of the upsets...?

FC N'Didi (2) v (5) Misfoots

With N'Didi high on confidence after last weeks win over HNA, perhaps they were a little complacent and expected a win over Misfoots who were sitting bottom of the table and yet to get a win under their belt.

A good Misfoots performance, strengthened by the returning 'experienced' players who were missing last week saw a relatively comfortable victory.

N'Didi on the other hand were missing the midfield presence which they had the week before and struggled to contain the two youngsters who dominated the midfield battles and created multiple chances for Misfoots resulting in their 5 goals.

N'Didi captain Tom has some big decisions to make with team selection to ensure they get back to winning ways this week whilst Misfoots will have a confidence boost and something to build on.

Sue Terry FC (7) v (5) St S***m

With Sue in Ibiza and Terry at Glastonbury, the boys in black turned up with a relatively new side with a couple of familiar faces (the Young Bros). A young ray parlour lookalike, who was so brown it looked as if he had just finished a surfing competition in Australia added some quality to the midfield and with 6'10 Giles it was a good balance of technical and physical ability.

With the sides heading in at half time all square, the magical St S***m half time team talked seemed to have made an appearance yet again! A couple of quick goals saw the Trelawney boys take a second half lead until a determined and gritty (including some handbags thrown in there..) Sue Terry resurgence saw them take a 2 goal cushion, which managed to stop the unstoppable force which seemed to be St S***m.

RoDonuts (10) v (4) Hob Nobs Athletic

Injuries forced HNA to bring in the big (literally...) signings of Simon Jefferies (former LMA invincible) and Sam Kevern to bolster their squad.

With HNA controlling possession, RoDonuts had very few opportunities to put themselves infront until Luke 'Ibrahimović' Michell decided 1 in 1 wasn't enough to put himself on the map and banged in a total of 5 against HNA's goalkeeper Chris Bawden. Is he going to be picked up by the might West during pre season...?

Ashley Kemp took advantage of pulling rank on pennos and slotted one away after a mistake from Dan Luke giving away the easiest penalty of the tournament (don't throw/kick the ball over head height!!)

An absolute worldy by RoDonuts midfield/defender/striker (sorry I don't know your name!) even received applause from HNA players as it was such an incredible volley from about half way. The only things to top that this season was the Mike Vicharys screamer in the first week and Spenny's (un)intentional basketball 3 pointer.... Happy now!!?

This FA cup esque week essentially leaves the league wide open with 3 teams tied on 9, and the bottom 3 tied on 3.

All to play for going into week 5!

Week 3 Review:

Sue Terry (8) v (3) Misfoots

Wheeler dealer Freddie managed to recruit some additional players since the first week. With their strength in depth, many subs were made, many goals were scored and leaving De Gea in goal relatively little to do apart from picking the ball out of his net 3 times.

Terry's took an early lead and controlled 3/4 of the game with some megnuts thrown in there too. Well done to Giles for the naughiest megnuts of the tourney so far and then scoring an own goal in the same match!
Their 2nd win in two weeks see's them move up to 2nd place in the league with their goal difference keeping them just ahead of RoDonuts.

RoDonuts (2) v (8) St S***m

The evenings premier game for the big hitters in the league. A very close first half which saw St S***m and poachment pat with his black and white cleats Jolly left with very little service but the S***ms managed to sneak a couple in. Dan Luke (and his illness) decided to turn into Pepe Reina to keep his team in the running and the teams went into the break all tied up at 2-2.

The second half was a completely different story.... with the Donuts going for the win they were left vulnerable at the back and a couple of quick goals put the Donuts on the back foot and chasing the game.
With Donuts central defender wandering and trying to make a difference further up the pitch, Elliot fell out of his pocket and the S***ms ran away 6-0 winners of the half, and 8-2 overall. Good game management and big JT in his Mizunos at the back saw a comfortable victory (in the end).

Hob Nob Athletics (5) v (7) FC N'Didi

With the engine (Monty) in the middle of the park missing due to injury, HNA brought in West Cornwall's legend, veteran and indoor specialist Ashley Kemp into the squad along with Falmouth's main striker Rob Wearne.
What was suppose to be an easy win on paper, turned into a feisty affair with a few big hits going in and frustration apparent in the HNA camp as the game seemed to slip away from them. GK Chris Bawden pulling off some worldie saves kept HN's in the game. What could have been team goal of the season (Barca would have been proud of that) was only kept out by the upright as Wearne unleashed a vicious volley after Dawe's fizzed the ball into him at chest height.

N'Didi captain Tom Alison had obviously been making some recruitment during the summer transfer market and brought in some strong new players which clearly made the difference as they scored a few quick goals in the second half and managed the game well towards the end walking away with their first victory of the season.
