I have cried so many tears over what is happening in Nepal. 💔
Tom ThisIsJaamHot and I spent a lot of time there 10 years ago, and it remains one of our most favourite countries in the world. Not only because of its breathtaking natural beauty, but because of its people they are so kind, so gentle, and so incredibly pure.
If you haven’t seen what is happening, catastrophic flooding triggered by a glacial collapse has devastated communities across Nepal. Entire villages have been destroyed. Homes, schools and livelihoods have been swept away. Families have lost their loved ones, their children and absolutely everything they had.
Around 1,300 people have died and more than 5,000 are still missing. The scale of it is unimaginable 🥹🥲
The rescue operations taking place are mind-blowingly treacherous, yet rescuers have refused to give up hope. Two workers have now been pulled alive from a hydropower tunnel after being trapped underground for nine days.
One of the survivors, Sanjay Sah, said that while he sat in the darkness, he continuously chanted the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra to give himself courage and hold on to hope.
Nine days in the darkness, chanting a mantra and praying that he would be found. It’s almost impossible to comprehend. 💔🙏🏼
Please, if you have even 50p, £1 or whatever you can spare, consider donating. Any amount can make a difference to people who have lost absolute everything in the blink of an eye.
Nepal and its beautiful people desperately need the world’s help right now. 🇳🇵🙏🏼
Wherever you are in the world, please take a moment to search for a trusted, verified charity or emergency appeal supporting the people of Nepal in your country.
If you’re in the UK, trusted organisations with dedicated Nepal emergency appeals include the British Red Cross, Oxfam and Action Against Hunger UK. You can search any of these names followed by “Nepal Floods Appeal” and donate directly through their official website.
Just imagine for a moment that this was your country. Your village. Your home. Your family still missing 🥹or your child trapped somewhere, waiting and praying to be found.
Let’s help Nepal as much as we can
🇳🇵🙏🏼🥹🥲
